Blogger Burnout – A Double Dose

Blogger Burnout

Blogger Burnout | adoubledose.comHappy Thursday! We hope you all are having a great week. We have almost made it to the weekend! We just got back from an incredible birthday getaway in Miami that we can’t wait to share with you all. On that topic, we wanted to get a little more personal with you all, specifically about working and being so type-A. Before, that we wanted to share how much we LOVE this romper for summer. Of course, we all love rompers, but this one has embroidery AND it is off shoulder. It also comes in white, too.

You all have probably seen us wearing these sandals literally every day, well, because we have been. They don’t look comfortable, but they really are! One of us wore them to travel the other day, and our feet didn’t hurt at all. They also go with everything!Blogger Burnout | adoubledose.comLet us first off say how extremely grateful we are for you all. Without your support, none of this would be possible. We absolutely love getting to interact with you all and share stuff that you all find useful. We wanted to talk more about this because we know a lot of you can probably relate, even though you may not be a blogger. We have both mentioned that we are type A before, and can put a ton of stress on ourselves. For example, when it comes to Instagram and our blog, we both feel guilty if we don’t post as much as we feel like we should, or if we get caught up with real-life, and don’t snapchat or share enough throughout the day. We know it can sound kind of silly, but it is the truth.

Recently, we have both been feeling extremely tired and just plain burnt out. Of course, it is understandable that that would happen eventually when we literally never take ONE day off. The truth is we love our job so much that it is so hard to just completely shut off, but there are repercussions. We are constantly on our phones, and probably not as present as we should be. We are always thinking of getting a picture of the cute scenery or snapping our yummy meal when we are out to eat. Even when we are on a trip, it is mainly for our blog and brand, so we are constantly glued to our phones, as in we just stare at our phones for 80% of the meal, and don’t say a lot to each other, haha.
Blogger Burnout | adoubledose.comWe are so busy trying to move forward and move on to the next goal (reaching more people, growing our blog, working on the next post), that we often forget to celebrate the victories and things we have set goals to achieve. We have both been like this all of our lives, whether in school or at work. We are sure a lot of you who have the same personality can experience the same thing, so we wanted to share what we are going to try to do to help with this issue in hopes that it will keep us accountable. Blogger Burnout | adoubledose.comIt sounds so harsh, but we never feel like we’ve gotten enough done. No matter how much we do throughout the day, we both feel like there is so much more we could have done. If we are at home, and just sitting on the couch watching tv, there is a 99% chance, we are on our phones scrolling through Instagram, planning our posts out, or on our computer answering an email. We literally don’t know how to decompress, and yes, it is an issue.
Blogger Burnout | adoubledose.comOne of us went to see our therapist, and she suggested posting less on Instagram. I (Alexis) am very much a person of routine, so not posting as much as I do (I post a TON), gives me a ton of anxiety. It sounds so silly in theory, but that is how I feel. I know that nothing major will happen if I take half the day off, or a whole day, but I struggle with it. So, here are some of the things I am going to be trying (and Sam, too):

  • Take a walk outside for an hour WITHOUT any phones or technology
  • Take yoga once a week to take mind off of work
  • Post one less instagram at least once a week (eventually one day off)
  • Tell ourselves it’s okay if the emails don’t get answered the same day, or the blog posts don’t get done as planned
  • Take one day off a week of answering emails/blog posts

We hope that was helpful, and if you all have any tips to share, or you have experience dealing with this, let us know! We would love to hear your insight!

We found all of these adorable pieces in the Young Contemporary section at Nordstrom. We love shopping there for trendy, fun, and affordable pieces for summer. They are all at a great price point, and they ship free! Check out some of their great summer pieces here.
