We hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day weekend! We have had quite the week. Like we mentioned in our Friday post, we had a family emergency, and unfortunately, had a death in the family. It came as a shock and was totally unexpected. We are so lucky to have such a great family and support system.
We did, however, have a funny experience at the airport Friday leaving Dallas. Well, we definitely weren’t laughing when it happened, but now it is funny to think about! So, our flight out of Dallas was supposed to leave at 1:45 PM (or so I thought). We worked out in the morning, ate breakfast, finished packing, and left the house at noon to head to the airport close by.
We usually carry our bags on the plane, but since we were taking peanut butter (which they do not allow you to carry on), we decided we would check our bags. So, we arrived at the airport late (our cab driver arrived late) around 12:40. We went to the self-check-in to print our boarding passes and check our bags. Once we put in our confirmation number, we saw that our flight was scheduled to leave on-time at 1:00 PM, and was boarding at 12:30 PM.
I think we both stared at each other in shock for a good 2 minutes before we literally panicked. Yes, I did say that we arrived at the airport at 12:40, and yes, the flight had already started boarding 10 minutes prior to that! YIKES!
We took off running through the airport to head to the security line fully-outfitted in heels and espadrille flats. We did not get to check our bags since we were SO late, so we knew they were going to find that beloved peanut butter and confiscate it.
Luckily, some of the TSA agents were very nice (some were not and were asking why we were so late- oops!) and told us to head to the empty security lane. Just like I knew they would, they found that peanut butter. They set our luggage aside as if they knew exactly what was in there (LOL). It wasn’t like we had a bomb in there!
The TSA agent was very nice and let it slide (thank god!) and we ran like cattle to the gate that was of course on the oppostie side of the airport. I am sure people enjoyed seeing us running through the busy airport in our heels and 20 million bags we were carrying.
And, if youre wondering if we made our flight, we sure did! I don’t know how, but we did it! I was SO thirsty and usually buy water before the flight, but since we barely made the flight, I had no time to buy any. I shoveled down my food as soon as we got on the plane and guzzled down the water I got on the plane, and was SO grateful that we made it!
I hope you all have a great rest of your holiday weekend! I highly recommend making these donuts!
One of our absolute favorite treats used to be the chocolate glazed donuts with rainbow sprinkle, especially the ones from Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts. Okay, now that is all we can think about!
The good news is that we created a MUCH healthier version of them that you can enjoy guilt-free. Our version has way more nutrients and is packed with protein, fiber, and healthy antioxidants. Of course, we couldn’t leave out the rainbow sprinkles!
