Denim shorts are one of our staples for spring and summer. We have had some of you all request some that are a little longer than the short ones you see floating around, so we thought we would round up some of our favorites.
Short
We usually opt for the shorter length, since we are on the shorter side (5’1″).
This pair (#1) is shorter and also has some stretch, so we love that they’re comfortable.
We just ordered this Agolde pair (#5) and went with a size 24. We are in between sizes 23 and 24 and just sized up for a looser fit. We love that they’re not overly distressed.
For more of a mid-length option, that is not super long, but not too short, we recommend this stretchy distressed pair (#2), which also happens to be affordable, too!
This darker pair (#6) is a great wash and not too distressed, so you can wear them with everything.
We actually just ordered #10 because they’re the newer version of the ones we had last year that we wore a ton. We have both sizes 24 and 25 in these.
Longer
If you want something even longer with some distressing on them, we recommend #3, and those are affordable, too!
With a little less distressing, we recommend pairs #7 and #11.
Bermuda Length
For shorts even longer that will hit you right above your knees, #4 is a good budget-friendly option. With a little less distressing, we love pairs #8 and #12.
When we aren’t wearing shorts or jeans, or joggers, haha, we look for the next best option: dressing up some shorts! As it starts warming up, we want to opt for something that is more comfortable and acceptable to wear to a nice dinner, but also not constricting or too covered up. Enter: dressed up shorts! This black pair from J.ING has the cutest stud detailing on the sides, AND they are higher waisted so they are amazing!
To do a dressed up look, we suggest pairing a simple black knit tank with them (this one is tight, but also loose, if that makes sense?!) The fabric isn’t too constricting, but it is also form-fitting in all the right places. It also comes in a really pretty off-white color Sam styled below!
For sizing, we are wearing size S in the shorts, and XS in the sweater tank. The shorts do run a little small on us, so we were glad we ordered both the XS and S.
What we love about J.ING pieces is that they are higher fashion and trendy, but also functional! They have so many cute pieces that we want to order like this trench coat and this polka dot dress that is perfect for spring!
If you’re wanting to dress down the shorts, you could do a basic white tank, or even a denim button up shirt.
Y’all know how much we LOVE denim shorts, and we have had a few requests to share some that are little bit longer in length, so if you’re looking for something that covers your butt a little more, we have you covered! 😉 PS- if you haven’t had a chance to check out our other denim short post, you can read that one here!
You can throw them on with some booties, wedges, or flats, and you’re good to go!
Happy Monday! We are currently in Grand Cayman on our annual trip with our parents, and have gotten so many DMs about hotels and recommendations, so you can check those out here! We actually posted something funny in our stories about being a grandma and not going out, and got SO many of y’all saying you felt the same way, so we wanted to share some of our favorite things to do on a night in for those of y’all who are like us, and don’t love going out 😉 And by the way, it is totally okay if you just don’t like doing that (even if all of your friends like doing that.) We were usually the girls who weren’t dying to go out, and we did have our fun when we turned 21, but after that, we were kind of over it, honestly! We would go out on occasion (usually when other people wanted to), and there is nothing wrong with going out, but it isn’t for everyone! We both would usually prefer to stay in, or go for a quiet dinner somewhere! We think it honestly starts with surrounding yourself with people that may not want to go out ever single weekend. We promise there are people out there that feel the same way you do, you just have to put in the effort to look for them! We wanted to share some of our favorite things to do on a night in, but before we go into that: a little about the outfit: these ruffle booties (wearing size 6.5) are soooo cute and perfect to start wearing now with denim shorts, and then into fall with jeans! We paired them with this super cute backpack that can be worn as a purse, too, and this camo tank! And, now for our favorite things to do on a night in:
Happy Thursday, y’all! We just wanted to first say how much we appreciate ALL of you! Your support and sweet words are what keep us going on the busy, tough days. When you tell us you loved a post, or show us something you bought, it really makes our day, and makes us smile:) This post was actually requested a super long time ago, but we have been wanting to write about it. We have kind of talked about this before, but we really think that people have this glamorous image of what our day is like. Yes, some days, we are all glammed up, and going to fun lunches and events, but other days (and 90% of the time), we are in workout clothes, greasy hair, and zero makeup, haha. So, what does our typical day look like? Well, that is a tricky question because no two days are the same. No, really, not one day has been the same since we started doing this full-time, and we kind of love it. We are both creatures of routine, but we love a good challenge, and love that we don’t know what will come up every day. With that being said, we do like to plan out our days, and make lists of what needs to get done that day (something we were terrible about in the beginning).
Here we go! So, we have both been trying to go to bed earlier SANS phone. Not very proud to report that although, we have both been going to bed earlier, we (especially me, Alexis) are on our phones in bed, which is terrible for you. Eek, I know, I know. Anyways, we try to get up without an alarm, and honestly, I do find myself waking up a million times throughout the night some nights (thanks, anxiety). Usually, we both wake up around 6:30-7 AM.
Once we get up, one of us will make something to eat (yes, we act married);), and one of us will answer emails, finish that day’s post, or work on the next day’s post. After that, we will both head to the gym for workout (see our other posts for our workouts here). We try to get to the gym between 9-10 AM, but some days it is later just because we get caught up working. After the gym, we will usually get home and answer more emails, have some phone meetings, work on more content (and yes, all still in sweaty, gym clothes). If we are shooting that day, we will shower and get ready quickly, and figure out what outfits we are styling, where we are shooting, etc. Usually shooting can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour or two, depending on how much we need to do.
Some days, we spend 4-5 hours shooting content in the mirror, or on our phones, depending on what the campaign is.
Once we finish shooting or meetings, etc., we will sometimes run errands we need to do (get groceries, etc), or work more;) Told y’all we are workaholics! Sometimes, we will take a yoga class, go to refloxology, grab dinner with friends, etc in the evenings, and most likely, when we get home we work a little more (usually finishing up stuff on our phones, mainly Instagram). Honestly, I love eating dinner at a grandma time (like 6 PM), but if we have plans, I usually am out a little later. We have figured out that if we start the dinner and evening work process earlier, we will get into bed earlier. I am saying that as I type this out at 10 PM, oops!
As you all can tell, it isn’t all that glamorous. I would have expected it to be a little more exciting, too. We work a TON. We probably work more than we ever worked at our corporate jobs, but we wouldn’t trade it for the world. We truly love what we do, and are so passionate about it. Thanks again for all of your support, and for following along with us! We love you all. Xo
