We are so excited to share our birthday getaway at Acqualina Resort + Spa on the Beach. Our little getaway was nothing short of incredible! It was truly the best way to spend our 26th birthday. We have such a great time on these trips together. Even though we work a TON on our blog trips, we still create such incredible memories. Honestly, we always think of Miami as a party city and just a lot of clubs, haha, but our trip there was the total opposite of that! We spend our stay hanging by the pool and beach and enjoying incredible food!

We were so worried about the weather because right before we left, Miami had been getting a ton of rain, so we were thinking we would not be getting to enjoy the sunshine, but it is like the forecast knew it was our birthday because it was bright and sunny both days we were there! We couldn’t have asked for better weather! We flew into the Miami International Airport, but if you can fly into Ft. Lauderdale, that would be better, since the hotel is closer to that airport. We took an uber from the airport, so it was pretty easy, and we were able to get some work and emails answered in the car. When we got to the beautiful Acqualina resort, we were greeted with some sparkling water and a cool, eucalyptus towel, which is just what we needed because it was SO humid. It is humid in Texas, but this was more than we were used to.We checked into our suite, which was STUNNING. We have not seen a more gorgeous room with such chic decor. Our room had a beautiful view of the beach, which we could not stop staring at. The King bed was an elegant setup with gray accents and beautiful artwork behind it. Our suite also had a chase lounge (that can be turned into an other bed) and a gorgeous coffee table for extra seating.

The bathroom was humongous, which we loved. It had a separate tub and shower, as well as a sink area, and a separate counter area to do your makeup and hair. We loved this because usually when we are getting ready, all of our hair and beauty products can get in the way on a small counter, so it was great to have a bunch of space!
They had the most delicious red velvet cupcakes waiting for us for our birthday in our room, which was so sweet. One bite turned into finishing both cupcakes, but they were incredible. It is like they read my mind because I am OBSESSED with red velvet. I have already claimed that as my wedding cake flavor (whenever that day comes, haha).

we checked into our room, we decided to walk around the area and explore. We found a great Argentinian restaurant and got some grilled chicken and grilled vegetables. They also have a few other shops and restaurants close by to walk around and explore.
On our birthday, of course, we woke up and hit the gym! Their gym was amazing, and had everything you could want for working out. We know most people don’t like to workout when they are on vacation, but this gym will make you want to get your sweat on. They have a ton of dumbbells, machines, treadmills, ellipticals, and an area to stretch and foam roll. The gym is very spacious, so you don’t feel like you’re going to bump into the person next to you working out. They also have water bottles, eucalyptus towels, and spa water (water flavored with fresh fruit). For some reason, I can always drink so much more water when it is infused with fruit! After our workouts, we headed to get some breakfast at AQ (which is one of their amazing restaurants ). They have a buffet, or you can order off the menu. We always opt for buffets because these girls love to eat, haha. They had a ton of fresh fruits, pastries (we had to try some!), an omelette station, cereals, bacon/sausage, and fresh juices. It was all so delicious, so we definitely got our breakfast fill in. We sat outside both mornings, and it was gorgeous! The view overlooks the pool and beach, so you just can’t beat that. After eating the whole buffet (just kidding, but really), we headed up to switch into our swimsuits to get some sun. The beach is literally steps away from the main hotel building. Nobody wants to have to take a cart or walk a million miles to get to to the beach. They have two amazing pools that are kid-friendly, and one adults-only pool.

The resort is great for kids because they have a kid’s club, but it is also not super loud. They host a lot of honeymooners and couples, too! We spend the most time at the beach, though. We don’t have a beach close to us, so we always take full advantage of the beach when we are near it!

We had a super sweet hotel staff set up our comfy chairs by the beach, and we were in heaven! The view is incredible, and it super quiet and calming. The beach is private, so it is only exclusive to hotel guests. They bring you an umbrella and a big pitcher of water, so you’re all set! Oh, and we got the best tans. We honestly didn’t get to lay out for too long, but in the time we were outside, we got pretty good tans, which we are all about 😉

For lunch, we had the pleasure of dining with some of the on-site staff, which was so fun! We ate at the beachside restaurant, Costa Grill. The food was delicious, and super fresh. We were both honestly surprised because usually hotel restaurants can be kind of small and not very good. The salads they had were a really big portion, and looked amazing. We both ordered the salmon with grilled vegetables, and loved it so much we ordered it again the next day, haha. We also tried the Thai Coconut, which is just a fresh coconut straight out of the coconut, and it was so refreshing. After lunch, we had the opportunity to tour The Estates at Acqualina, which is a new project that is projected to open in 2020. We got to see the model condo, and it was absolutely stunning and incredible. Carl Lagerfeld is designing their lobby (so fun!), and the actual condo units have designers like Hermes, Fendi, and Bentley that furnish them. It was definitely a very instagramable area! Now, we just want to move in!

Of course, we had to check out their amazing spa, ESPA. We both got a Swedish massage, and enjoyed every minute of it. The spa has a great pool area just for spa guests, as well as a women’s and men’s lounge with a wet and dry sauna. The spa also has relaxation lounges for men and women. Both lounges have Himalayan Salt Walls that help in detoxifying negative ions that purify the air naturally. We got to hang out in the lounge for a little bit before our treatments, which was perfect to get us in the relaxing mood. Honestly, we are both on our phones so much, that this was just what we needed! Our massage therapists used an amazing smelling oil that helped to revitalize us, as well as relax us. For our birthday dinner, we headed to Il Mulino New York. This restaurant is a classic Italian restaurant that we actually ate at a while back in New York.

They are known for their ravioli and their homemade pastas. We didn’t order any, but we saw them preparing some of them, and they looked (and smelled) amazing! We did order a few dishes that we absolutely loved! We started off with some fresh bread (they let you choose from an assortment of breads) and some Parmesan Reggiano cheese. After this, they bring you some fried zucchini. salami, and garlic bread. For an appetizer, we ordered the grilled octopus. We loved it, and if you love octopus, you will love this one! It is a little spicy, so even better! We both ordered the endive salad, and for the main courses, we ordered the Frutti De Mare (snapper and seafood in a tomato sauce) and the salmon (with mushrooms, garlic, and peppers). We also ordered a side of grilled asparagus. Oh my goodness, SO amazing. The food was a big portion (YES, please!), and it was incredible! We left with very happy tummies. A little more about the hotel: It is a family-owned hotel, not a chain, which we love because you don’t find that often.

Overall, we had an incredible time at their resort. We had high expectations, but our expectations were more than met during our stay there. We will definitely be planning a trip back there soon, and just maybe we will bring our family next time;)
