We are the queens of online shopping, and are pretty sure we are not alone in that regard! It is pretty rare if we go to a physical store to shop anywhere, haha. Even if we run out of something super simple, we will find a way to order it online. Of course, we will only do that if we can get it quickly!
We wanted to share some our favorite drugstore beauty buys that we use on a daily basis, and the best part is: you can get them all NEXT DAY at Walmart!
The best part is it is free, and there is no membership needed, unlike other next day shipping programs. All you have to do is enter the NextDay Mode on your phone on Walmart.com, and you’ll see all of the items you can get.
First up, is dry shampoo. MAJOR MUST! We use this on a daily basis, and this Batiste one is a great drugstore buy, and works on all hair types. You can use it to freshen up dirty hair, or create more volume in your roots.
Another hair product we use a lot is this L’oreal Magic Root Cover Up. We have grey roots, so we rely on this to cover up our greys in between root touch-ups! We have the “dark brown” color.
All you do is spray your roots, and in a matter of seconds, you have concealed roots that wont smudge. The color lasts until your next wash, and is free of ammonia, peroxide, and synthetic dyes.
For skincare, we swear by these Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes. These are the best for removing makeup, and aren’t irritating on your skin at all. They can remove all makeup, including eye makeup, and waterproof makeup, too! They are also free of alcohol.
This Dickinsons’ witch hazel is a great toner for your skin. We use it after we cleanse our face and it helps to maintain clear and balanced skin. This one is all natural, and helps to remove dirt, oil, and makeup residue, without drying out your skin.
Next up: teeth! We get so many questions about what we use to keep our teeth white and fresh. This Colgate Optic White toothpaste has been our go to for years. We love that it helps keep our teeth white. We recommend using this twice a day, at least!
Flossing is VERY important, and we love these Oral-B Glide flossers. These are great because they fit in between even tighter teeth, and easy throw in your bag!
For moisturizing your skin, we love this CeraVe moisturizing cream. We love this brand because it is fragrance-free and very gentle on skin, so it is good for any skin type, especially those with sensitive skin or eczema.
This L’oreal Lash Paradise mascara is one of our favorites. We use this one on our bottom lashes and love that it gives our lashes volume and lasts all day! Also great for all lashes, but we have lash extensions.
PS- shipping is free if you spend $35 or more, so basically it is a no brainer!
Everyone knows, or should know that having a good canvas to apply your makeup is key. Of course, that starts with a good skincare regimen. After that, you need a good foundation and concealer regimen to get that skin glowy and flawless!
We wanted to share some of our current favorites that you can find at Nordstrom. Our top products are these two products from Charlotte Tilbury. We love that all of their products are paraben-free, alcohol free, and vegan.
Foundation
Of course, you need a good base layer, and that means foundation! We love this Laura Mercier Silk Crème Moisturizing Photo Edition Foundation because it gives you great coverage that lasts for up to 12 hours aka all day! It really smoothes your skin and gives you an all-over canvas.
We have the “Cashew Beige” color in this one!
Concealer
We love this Charlotte Tilbury Genius Magic Away Concealer for under our eyes, especially! It goes on so smoothly, and leaves your skin looking flawless. We love that it lasts so long and it is water resistant. We also like applying it on our blemishes and breakouts, too.
For this, we usually apply this after we have applied our foundation under our eyes, on redness and pigmentation, and on blemishes. We typically use our ring finger to blend it in.
We love this one because it helps to mattify your face, so it’s not all shiny and it leaves your skin looking radiant. We have the #2 color for reference.
Tools
For applying makeup you need a few good tools, besides your fingers.
One of the tools we use are these Sigma Beauty Flawless in a Flash Kabuki Brush Duo. This set comes with a flat kabuki brush, which is great for blending in liquid or cream products on your skin. It also comes with a concealer kabuki brush, which is obviously great for applying concealer 😉
The other tool we swear by is this Beautyblender Original Makeup Sponge Applicator & Cleanser Duo. We use this sponge applicator to apply primers, foundation, powders, and more! You can also wet it before and then apply your makeup with it for a dewy look. Also, it helps for the makeup to not be absorbed in the sponge, and more on your skin.
To clean the applicator, you just rub it on the cleanser and then rinse off, and squeeze out to remove excess. Let it dry, and use again!
Eyes
We don’t wear a ton of eye makeup, but we love this Too Faced Naked Eyes palette. It has nine hades that are great neutrals that are flattering on any skin tone. You can use them for your lids, outer corners, and inner corners.
We found all of these products to achieve a flawless face at Nordstrom. We love that they carry all of our favorite brands and products. Even better, they offer in store pickup, and curbside pickup, so you can place your order online, and within hours, head straight to Nordstrom in your pjs and wait for them to deliver your order right to you!
We are SO excited because we are finally sharing an updated hair tutorial with you all, and there is even a video! We had shared one a while back, but this one *should be* easier to follow, so hopefully it is helpful!
Even though we have different hair lengths, and Alexis has a shorter haircut, we still use the same method to curl our hair. We have a few products that are budget friendly to achieve the effortless wave “look”.
What You Need
Curling Iron:
Of course, you’re going to need a good curling iron. We have several that we use, but this Babyliss Pro Nano curling iron is the best budget friendly one we have used. It comes in several barrel sizes, but we have found that either the 1″ or the 1 and 1/4″ is most effective. We have also noticed that a lot of hairstylists use this one, and our hairstylist uses it as well, so you know it is a good one! Also, it is only $31!
Heat Protection Spray:
You need something to protect your hair from all of that heat you are going to put on it. We have several products we like to use, and this Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil is one of our favorites because it smells good and is so easy to apply!
Shampoo and Conditioner:
This Adria by Thalia shampoo and conditioner smells AMAZING, and is free of sulfates! It really is great at moisturizing and nourishing your hair, and leaves our hair super soft. It is also great for the summer heat, and when using lots of heating tools on your hair!
Hairspray:
Of course, you need hairspray to make your waves last! We don’t like any heavy hairsprays that are hard to brush out, so our go to is this Amika one because it has a flexible hold, meaning it brushes out easily for lots of wear on your hair, and it smells amazing!
Dry Shampoo:
You all know we try to go as long as we can without washing our hair, so dry shampoo is MUCH needed. We swear by this Batiste one and this Amika one. Both smell amazing and do the job!
The Method
Watch the video below on how we curl our hair and create the waves. If you have any questions, feel free to comment below or message us on Instagram.
It is pretty self explanatory, but to start:
Brush and section off the hair.
Spray with heat protection.
Curl hair in 1″ sections away from your face (with clip of barrel facing your face), leaving a small section of hair out of the clip.
Repeat with rest of hair.
Finish off with hairspray.
Brush through curls once hair has cooled off.
Other Tips
We recommend trying to go as long as you can without washing your hair because dirty hair always holds a curl the best, and also looks the best, believe it or not!
Make sure you don’t use the highest heat setting on your irons as that can burn your hair more easily, if you’re not careful
Be sure to brush out your curls when you are finished styling so you don’t look like Shirley Temple 😉
All of these great beauty products and tools we used can be found at Walmart. They have so many products for every person you’re shopping for, or that you may need. Our favorite things to order online are essentials like mascara, nail polishes, dry shampoo, and lip shades. We love that they offer two-day shipping and in-store pickup!
Happy almost July! We thought we would cover a topic a lot of people in their twenties and thirties don’t really talk about: grey hair. To be honest, we have had grey hair since our early twenties, and embarrassingly enough, we used to pluck the greys out until we had wayyyy too many to sit there and pluck them out, haha!
We wanted to share some of our tips for covering those little stubborn hairs up. A lot of you don’t believe that we have it, and the truth is, we have gotten good at covering them up;)
Use a root touch up spray
We SWEAR by this root touch up spray. It doesn’t leave a mess all over your clothes or pillowcase. We use this in between colorings with our hairstylist and spray it on the areas you can see the greys.
This compact is also a great option for on-the-go!
Wear a cute hat
Hats are not just for bad hair days! If your roots are showing, no problem. Just throw on a cute hat, like this fedora hat, and you’re good to go!
Try a different hair part
We will sometimes switch from a middle part to a side part, where we wont have as much grey hair showing. You could also try a top bun, or a cute braid!
Get balayage or highlights to help mask it
We have balayage, and if you have darker hair like us, having lighter pieces definitely helps to mask and conceal the grey and white hairs better.
Trust your stylist
We cannot say enough about this! Be sure you really go to a trusted hairstylist. We were dying our own greys at home for a while to save money, and that was a HORRIBLE decision. We screwed up our hair and made the roots orange, so spending the money to go to a trusted stylist is worth it! Don’t risk it!
On a side note, this adorable colorful clutch (even has a longer chain strap, so you can wear it on your shoulder or cross body, too!) is super cute with these bow sandals, which happen to be on sale right now! We have size 6.5 in them for reference. We paired them with this straw panama hat also from Sole Society that can be worn to the beach or pool. We love Sole Society’s cute accessories and how they are all so affordable and reasonable!
We love how they dress down this black jumpsuit! We have size 0 petite in this jumpsuit for reference.
We are finally answering one of our top questions: what self tanners we love and how to use them! We swear by self tanners to get the best natural glow, but of course, there can be so many questions about which ones to use, which don’t smell, if they are healthy for you to use, when you should apply it, and the list goes on and on!
Are self tanners healthy for you to use?
There are mixed opinions on this, but from what we have read, a lot of them have an ingredient called DHA. Some say they can make you age more rapidly and also damage your DNA. If you do have sensitive skin, it can also irritate you.
For us personally, we have become very careful about what we put on our skin!
What Ingredients should you look out for?
Some ingredients we look out for are DHA, especially DHA that isn’t natural.
How can you make self tanning less damaging?
We would suggest always applying sunscreen, even though you have good color because of the self tanner.
We also recommend using one with better ingredients, and that are more natural!
Which self tanners are the best?
As we mentioned above, we recommend really looking at the ingredients that are in your sunless tanner, just like what you would put on your face or in your body! Some things we look for are natural and organic ingredients and dyes.
For your face
Get Into The Limelight: We use this one THE most! This one is so amazing and really gets you dark. We actually shared this one on Instagram, and got so many questions about it! This one is sulfate-Free, Paraben-Free, Vegan (No nuts or oils), Ecocert Approved DHA, Cruelty-Free, and Dermatologist Tested. We use this one on face and body! use code DOUBLEDOSE
St. Tropez Bronzing Water Face Mist: this is a great option if you want something easy because all you have to do is gently mist on your face! This one is infused with mandarin water and 100% naturally derived DHA, and has a yummy tropical smell! It is also not drying.
Tan-Luxe The Face Self-Tan Drops: these are super easy to use because all you have to do is add them to your favorite moisturizers and apply on your face for a good glow! We love that you can combine these with any of your favorite products you use regularly! They also come in a body version!
Eco Tan Organic Face Tan Water: This one is made with all natural and organic ingredients, and has anti-aging and anti-acne properties! Also has vitamin C in it. It also does not stain your sheets!
For your body
Get Into The Limelight: We use this one THE most! This one is so amazing and really gets you dark. We actually shared this one on Instagram, and got so many questions about it! This one is sulfate-Free, Paraben-Free, Vegan (No nuts or oils), Ecocert Approved DHA, Cruelty-Free, and Dermatologist Tested. We use this one on face and body!
Alba Botanica Sunless Tanner Lotion: this one is also free of parabens, and is crueltly free. It is also great for sensitive skin, and can be used on the face.
Eco Tan Invisible Tan Organic Face Body Tanning Lotion: we have tried this one and like it a lot! It doesn’t contain synthetic dyes or bronzers, and is made with only organic and natural ingredients. However, this one does contain DHA.
Josie Maran Argan Liquid Gold Self- Tanning Oil: this one has great reviews and is vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free, GMO-free, synthetic-fragrance-free, and formaldehyde-free. It also has the “clean” seal from Sephora!
Applying self tanner
Applying it can be so tricky! Nobody wants a streaky mess. Here are our tips for applying self tanner:
Exfoliate first: Use either an exfoliating towel or anything you prefer to use to exfoliate remove excess dead skin cells. Be sure to focus on your keens, elbows, and ankles.
Apply to areas of your body: We like to use a mitten to apply the self tanner to our body to prevent staining your palms. Follow the directions on the bottle, and apply the liquid or mousse on your skin in a circular motion. Start with your feet and work your way up all the way your legs. Repeat with your torso, arms, etc. When doing your back, have someone help you or attach the mitten to long stick like a back scratcher to reach your back! Do not forget to tan your hands and feet!
Wash your hands thoroughly: Be sure to wash your hands with soap very well!
Allow it time to dry. Wait at least 10 minutes before getting dressed. We don’t sweat easily, but if you do, we suggest wearing loose clothing. Also, we don’t recommend working out at least until you have rinsed off.
How long before an event should you self tan?
We suggest doing it at least a few days ahead. You want to be able to test the product out, and also be able to get a few applications in to get a good color!
How should you apply it on your hands and feet?
When applying to your hands, make a claw with your hands so you can get it in all your knuckle crevices! When doing your feet, be sure to get all into your ankle bones and all those areas that you may miss with the mitten.
How do you apply it to your face?
We use these little mittens to apply the tanners onto your face! Makes it so much easier.
How often should you apply it?
We suggest applying it a few days in a row until you achieve the color you want. Then, maintain every week or two times a week!
How long should you wait before rinsing off?
We usually apply it after showering and then don’t rinse off until the next day, BUT, we don’t sweat a lot so we don’t have issues with it rubbing off. If you do, we suggest wearing looser clothes and rinsing off before you go to bed.
Self Tanning VS. Spray Tanning
We love a good spray tan. You can get super dark in just minutes, but it can be a lot of work on your end. If you have a big event, or are heading on a trip, we suggest going for a spray tan so you don’t have to worry about it. Of course, those can be pricey!
Should I get A Spray Tan Before Heading On A Beach Trip?
We have definitely gotten them before a trip. Just know that if you’re getting in the ocean or wearing sunscreen, it will come off more. Of course, you will start building a natural tan and then can exfoliate the spray tan off as it rubs off, which is what we did!
For those of you all wanting the details on this summer look, we paired this leopard kimono (see similar here since this one sold out!) with our favorite white jeans (wearing size 25 short). These peep toe booties from Sole Society are SO good. We got them in a size 6.5 and they also come in a few other colors.
We love that you can start wearing them now and into fall, plus they show off that summer pedicure;) This white bag is SO fun, and we have gotten so many compliments on them. It also comes in black!
We love that Sole Society has such great affordable shoes, bags, and accessories. We wear everything they have from their great booties and sandals to the great bags (some vegan!) and sunglasses.
We most definitely have our beauty staples, especially when it comes to summer skin and makeup! We are not ones to spend an arm and a leg on our beauty products (our clothes). Of course, we both have some products we will spend more on, but for the most part, we like to keep it affordable!
Best summer hair care products
These are some of our must haves for summer hair and beauty that we use on a daily basis. Since we don’t like to wash our hair often (as you all may know), we rely on a good and affordable dry shampoo!
This one from Batiste is a great basic dry shampoo because it has a fresh scent, works on all hair types, and easy to pack in your luggage to prevent you from washing your hair every single day! Nobody has time for that! They also have it in a tropical scent, which we love as well.
To protect our hair from all the heating tools we use like blow drying, flat ironing, and curling, we use this Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil Heat Primer to condition and also prime our hair and prevent our hair from being damaged when we use all of the heat on it. It also comes in a travel size!
To use it, you just spray on wet our dry hair all over before using any heating tool! It also has a great smell.
Best summer skincare
For skin, we ALWAYS use a sunscreen before anything else. We put on this Bare Republic sunscreen that is paraben and cruelty free. It has no synthetic fragrances, and actually has a really yummy coconut smell to it. It is not heavy and thick and is water resistant, which is so important for summer temps!
If you’re into spray sunscreens more (which we are most of the time), their spray version is great for applying to your body!
It also comes in a stick version, so it is easy to apply on-the-go, and throw in your bag.
Best summer makeup products
For makeup musts, we use this Beautyblender makeup applicator for SO many things! It gives you a really even application, and we use it for our foundation, setting powder, and more! You can also use it to apply highlighter and blush, too.
You can also clean it with some gentle face wash or mild soap every time you use it, so no need to worry about it collecting bacteria! We swear by it.
Even though we have lash extensions, we still wear mascara on our bottom lashes. Samantha had to remove her lashes for a short time, so she tried out this Lash Paradise Mascara and fell in LOVE! We were surprised at how it left our lashes so long and full, and we use it on our bottom lashes every day!
It also comes in a primer that helps you to achieve even longer and fuller lashes. For this one, you just apply it before your mascara!
Last but not least, you have to smell fresh and clean! We have always been big fragrance girls, and so we never leave the house without putting on some perfume. I think we learned that from our mom 😉
This Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume is one of our favorites, and has been for years! The smell is the perfect amount of floral, and the bottle is stunning, too!
We found all of these great beauty buys at Walmart. They have the best selection of all things beauty, and if you need anything last minute, they offer free in-store pickup, or free shipping on orders $35 or more, AND free returns!
