Happy Sunday! We went to the Texas State Fair yesterday, and that was quite the experience. We had THE most ridiculous type of adventure trying to get to the fair, trying to park, trying to get in, and trying to leave. It was INSANE. Let’s just say, next year, we will not be going on a weekend, haha.
We wanted to pop in and share some GREAT sales taking place for those of you all looking to do some online shopping;)
We get so many questions about several things: one of them is workwear ideas, which we have shared some in this post and this post. We love this dress for work, or any occasion you have coming up! It is super flattering, and comes in black, too. We love it paired it with this black cardigan and these pointed heels! We are wearing the smallest size in it for reference. On a completely unrelated note, we wanted to share some plant-based recipes we have been loving, or plan on trying! Not going to lie, we always heard “plant-based”, and immediately dismissed it. We thought, “But, how do you get your protein?” It wasn’t until we started not feeling well for a while, that we decided to try it out and see if we saw any changes. We can honestly say we feel so much better. We don’t feel 100%, but it is a step in the right direction. We aren’t focused on protein amounts, just getting and feeling better. You can listen more in our most recent podcast episode.
We are planning on doing a whole youtube video soon on what we eat in a day, but for now it is mainly lemon water and celery juice in the mornings, followed by a smoothie or fresh fruit. Lunch is a big salad or raw veggies and some fruit, and we graze and snack most of the day with fruit, dates, veggies, etc. Dinner is basically the same (a lot of fruits and veggies, sometimes cooked!). It takes a lot to get full and satisfied! Here are some recipes we have been making regularly, or want to make:
Many of you all may not know it, but we worked in corporate America about 5 years ago. Our initial job out of college (University of Texas at Austin- Hook ‘Em!) was working in public accounting at Ernst & Young. We both majored in Management Information Systems, so we were not typical accountants. One of us worked in IT Auditing, and the other in Fraud Technology Services. We honestly never thought we would work in something so technical, but it was our dream job we had wanted when we were in school. Interviewing for jobs can be SO stressful and nerve-racking, but once we got our internships with our top choice, we were so excited! We interned for Ernst & Young the summer after our junior year of college in Dallas (where we now live). We had such good experience, and had so much fun that summer! We loved getting to put together cute, but functional outfits for work.
After our summer internships, we accepted full-time offers with the same company, and were so relieved and excited for the next steps in our career. We moved to Dallas in August of 2013, and have obviously been here ever since!
While at our jobs, we would wear a lot of outfits that looked just like this one! Something cute, but also professional. We would shop at Express for most of our workwear because they had such great pieces, and they are affordable.
This outfit is perfect for work, and you can mix and match these pieces with other things in your closet like jeans or leggings! This striped blouse is so flattering because of the vertical stripes, and could be worn with a colored skirt or pair of pants as well. This black skirt is comfortable and cinches at the waist, which is so cute!We both worked our jobs there for a year before transitioning into our own gig;) Although, we had a great experience working there, and have nothing but positive things to say about the company as a whole, it was not for us. We are both very creative at heart, and driven, so we had always envisioned doing something of our own.
Once we left our corporate jobs, we did personal training for 6-7 months, and then worked on eventually launching our own food product, Double Dose Bakery. We also decided to launch our blog at the same time (because we are crazy and like to put a ton of stress on ourselves!) We will say it was quite the journey, but we wouldn’t change any of it!
After a year of working on both businesses, we had to make the very tough decision of choosing one. The food product was so successful and took off way more than we ever thought it would, but since didn’t see ourselves pitching and selling it in the methods we needed to do to be successful, we ultimately had to let it go.
It was SO tough, and one we thought about over and over, but we still feel like it was the best decision for us, and we truly love what we do. It doesn’t feel like work, and we LOVE getting to connect with you all. We couldn’t be more grateful for each and every one of you!

Happy Friday! We hope you all are having a great week, and have some fun things planned for this weekend! We wanted to share this super fun summer casual look and some back school tips for college! We know it is time to go back to school, so we wanted to share some of the things we learned over the years, and wish we knew! Before we get into those tips, we wanted to share more about this outfit! These embroidered shorts are a must. They are SO comfy, but still look put together, so they are perfect for school! We paired them with a basic white tank and this fun clutch! We wore these wedges with them, but you could also do some flat sandals! And, now for our tips on back to school! In case you missed our post last weekend on back to school musts, you can check that out here!
GOING TO CLASS:
We are super Type A, so before school started, we walked around the campus to figure out where our classes where, since UT is so big! It helped us not be so nervous about it on the first day, and avoid being late or missing your class! Some of those buildings are hard to find.
We are not major fans of tiny classes, just because we don’t like to participate as much, but we think smaller classes can be helpful when you don’t know the material that well, and can get more hands-on help!
WHAT TO WEAR:
We are all about the comfy wear. Yes, we know most college girls like to wear their big t-shirts and shorts to class, and we can’t blame them. We have all done it, haha! We would say something comfy, but put together is the way to go, unless you just want to wear your big t-shirt, then that is fine, too! Something like some denim shorts, like these, or some kind of drawstring short and a basic tee and flat sandals is easy! When it gets cooler out, you could do a some leggings or jeans and a long-sleeve tee or thick sweater and some slip ons or booties! HOW TO STAY FOCUSED:
Again, we are super Type A, so we were always hyper focused on school and doing well. We do think that there is a balance, though! You are in college, so you definitely want to have fun, but you also want to have a degree and good job at the end of your college experience. We were involved in several organizations while in school, and think it is a great way to meet people and form your core group of friends. Once we met our friends and felt settled in that sense, it was much easier for us to balance it all. In the beginning, it is a hard balance to find. You want to go to all of these events and everything is SO new, but remember, you still are there to go to school.
We think it important to go to those events, but also set time aside during the week, or in between classes to focus on school and studying. You can also forms study groups with some of your friends, that way you can kill two birds with one stone!
It also helps to talk to other people about this, whether it is your friends, or your family. They are probably going through the same thing, or have been through it!HOW TO DESTRESS:
This is a tricky topic because it is something we both struggle with! There are a few things we recommend that we still use today:
Go to a yoga class or workout
Take a walk outside
Call a family member or friend
Take yourself out to dinner or shopping
Grab a coffee or tea and sit outside with no distractions
As many of y’all know we are super petite, aka 5’1″, so finding denim that fits us well can be a struggle! When we stumbled upon Express, and their amazing denim and petite options, we were in LOVE, and honestly, haven’t gone anywhere else to shop for denim since then! They have the perfect fit for any size, especially petites, which we are ALLLL about! These white high-waisted shorts are amazinggg. Not only are they super stretchy, but they hug you in all the right places and they are longer, which we love. You can actually wear them with wedges, without showing too much skin 😉 We are wearing size 00 for reference! We paired it with this ahhhdorable denim off shoulder top (wearing xs) that is just so fun. It goes perfectly with these high-waisted shorts because it is more cropped! Can we take a second and take about these wedges?! They are so comfy and they come in a cognac color and black, too! This cactus clutch is just toooo fun for summer! Perfect accessory to an easy outfit like this! We wanted to share some of our favorite denim options from Express that we love and that fit us so well, and know you all will love them as much as we do! We usually opt for the petite denim, or the 00 short sizing!
And, since we are on the topic of the perfect fit, we wanted to talk about what we think the “perfect fit” is in a relationship, and why it is so important to us, and why we think it should important to you as well ;) Obviously we both have been in relationships, and have learned so much from all of them! We know dating can be hard, and not the most fun at times, but you have to do it to figure out what you want and don’t want in a relationship. We both honestly keep our private life, well, pretty private, but this is something we want to open up about a little bit. You may think you have fun with someone and could see yourself spending a lot of time with them, but sometimes that isn’t enough. We both think the foundation for a great relationship is dating and being with someone that you’re a perfect fit with. You’re probably wondering, “Well, what does that even mean?” To us, that means being with someone that you have something in common with, and not just loving to workout and eat. Yes, those are important, but it also about values. Having common interests, sharing the same values and beliefs, similar life goals, etc. It may not seem that important in the beginning, but you will find out sooner than later, that it really is. We personally don’t believe in the theory that “opposites attract”. It may work for some people, but generally, for us, we both would prefer to be with people that are similar to us. Of course, you’re not going to be identical to your partner, but similar is what works best for us!You want to be with someone that compliments you in the best way possible. We aren’t talking about getting actual compliments from someone. We are talking about being with someone that makes you a better person, brings out the best qualities in you, and just makes you better overall. We have both been in relationships where we make that person better, and more positive all around, but we haven’t necessarily gotten that on our ends. It is important that BOTH people are getting that benefit. When you’re with the “perfect fit”, it should feel like you’re hanging out with your good friend, and it just flows. It shouldn’t feel forced at all. Of course, it is not all rainbows and sunshine, but it really should be mutually beneficial. The other person should make you want to be better, and not change yourself in any way. For example, you may dislike running, but maybe they will inspire you to get more into running and train with you (speaking from personal experience ;) ) It is not about finding someone to change you or make you better, it is all about complimenting each other and making each other a perfect fit for each of you!{ Denim Shirt | White High Waisted Shorts | Cactus Clutch | Wedges | Sunglasses | Curling Iron | Nail Color | Toe Polish | Neckace | BRACELETS: David Yurman Cable Bracelets here, here, and here and Cartier Love Bracelet | RINGS: David Yurman Ring here and here | WATCH: Michele Deco Watch }
If y’all live in Texas, or somewhere warm, you know that summer is in FULL swing, meaning that is is HOT out! Sometimes, it does get chillier out, so a light jacket is needed, especially if you’re traveling! This red romper + this olive utility jacket is a great option for summer because you can layer up if it is cooler, or take off the jacket if it is warmer. This jacket is a great summer option (and all year) because it is not too heavy, and it can be worn with so many things!
This romper is such a great pop of color! We love it for summer, and it is super flattering. You can wear it with flats or wedges, like these blush ones we love!
Both of these pieces are from Express, which we are obsessed with! They have the best pieces for summer that are super affordable and cute. So many cute pieces to grab for summer trips!
