Happy Tuesday! It really feels like a Monday since Labor Day was yesterday, but we are not complaining about a shorter week. Since it is September, that means it is time to start transitioning our wardrobe into fall. We know that can be kind of tricky, considering it is still in the 90’s here, and probably will be pretty warm for a couple more months. We wanted to share a few of our favorite ways to update your fall wardrobe using just a few additions that you probably already have in your closet!
These olive booties are a great twist on a neutral bootie. They go with everything from blacks to browns, and they can be worn with shorts and dresses, too!
One of our main tips is to pair a bootie (can be olive or a light or medium tan color) with denim shorts, dresses, or ripped jeans! You can style them with a basic v-neck tee, like we did here, or with a light sweater or cardigan.
We also love shifting to more fall-based, warmer colors like olives, tans, burgundy, deep purples, etc. This scarf is a great way to add that color to your outfit. It is lightweight, so you can start wearing it now, even in warmer temperatures. You can also wear it as a shawl! Ripped jeans are also a great piece to add your fall wardrobe. They just add a more casual vibe to any outfit, and we love them in any color like black, white, olive, or dark and light washes.A great crossbody bag is great for every day. It really pulls your outfit together, and the grey is a great neutral color that will go with everything!Sole Society has great pieces to help transition your wardrobe for fall. They have so many great neutral options at super affordable prices, which we are all about!
We just got back from an incredible family trip in Grand Cayman, so this definitely feel like a Monday more than ever. Since it is Monday, and we have gotten a few requests to share our morning routine, we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to share ours! Before we get into our routine, we wanted to share this transitional fall look. We love pairing a cardigan with booties and shorts to transition into the cooler months. Especially in Texas, jeans are still not happening in the fall months, so these booties paired with this grey bag are a great way to style your favorite shorts. They are both super affordable and go with everything! We love Sole Society’s accessories because they have a wide range of styles for fall, and they have a TON of natural colors, which we always gravitate towards.
To be honest, with our schedules and line of work, it can be hard to have a consistent morning routine or schedule. We are both definitely creatures of habit and crave routine, and we feel that the more of a routine we have, the more consistent we can be with staying organized and disciplined. With that being said, it is totally okay to go off that schedule sometimes, like if you’re on vacation, or if you’re with friends or family. We both can be pretty type-A, so we don’t like going off schedule, but we are totally fine with it sometimes! We are both pretty similar with our routines and like to get up pretty early. We just feel like if we get our day started earlier, we are far more productive. Of course, that means you have to go to bed at a decent time, and with us, that doesn’t always happen. I know I tend to work late on my computer answering emails or finishing posts up, and then I do a major no-no, which is bringing my phone into the bed to finish up stuff on instagram (I know, so bad!) Anyways, if I do go to bed at a decent time (before 12), I will just wake up on my own around 6 or 7 AM. My body is just used to that now, so if I sleep past that, I feel like I slept so late, haha.
I will sometimes go straight to the gym after waking up if I am low on time (and when I say “I”, we are both the same with all of these). If I have a little more time, I will make some coffee and go to the gym, or I will make breakfast and sit down and actually enjoy it and have a slower morning. In college, I started doing that, and the morning is my FAVE time because the day has just started, and I truly love breakfast food. So, if I can, I love being able to get up, make some pancakes or a smoothie, and sit down and enjoy my breakfast while catching up on blog reading or news. I also drink hot water with lemon because I just love it and it has some great health benefits. FYI- I drink my coffee black, as in I use no sugar or milk. I know that is not tolerable for some people, so we shared our healthier recommendations in this post.
I also use this time to answer emails that need to be addressed (we are very good about staying on top of emails and try to answer within 24 hours) or finish up any blog posts or drafts due for that morning. I do find that if I don’t go to the gym first before having breakfast, I will tend to end up working too long (until like 10 or 11 AM).
We both workout pretty much every day. We will occasionally take a rest day, but since it is so much of our routine, we love being active. If we don’t go to the gym, we will take a class or go on a short run or walk outside. It just starts our day off on a great note, and we both just feel so much more productive and alert when we start our day off like that. Even when we worked our corporate jobs, we would wake up at 4:45 AM to workout before work.
Even when we are out of town, we have a similar routine. We will usually grab coffee before or after finding a gym or going on a run to start our day. We also ALWAYS eat breakfast. We wake up pretty hungry to start with, so we definitely have to grab breakfast somewhere to start our day. We do take some vitamins that we shared in this post.As far as what we read in the mornings, we follow some blogs on Bloglovin, or we will watch the TODAY show (love Kathie Lee and Hoda!). We also have a few news apps on our phones.
We hope that was helpful! We would love to hear about your morning routines. Now that summer is coming to a close (we know, so sad!), we thought what better time to do a MAJOR closet clean-out. We are definitely not hoarders by any means, but we do have some pieces of clothing from when we were in high school, which is now over 8 years ago. Yes, we can still fit in it, but that does not mean we need to keep it in our closet. I don’t know about y’all, but I will find any reason to hold on to stuff, especially clothes. We have done some closet decluttering in the past, but will keep things and convince ourselves that we will find a place to eventually wear them. Do any of y’all do that?! In college we both would spend literally any free time we had at the mall shopping away, so you can imagine that, along with what we do for a living, has caused us to accumulate a TON of clothes.
Over time, our closet, which is not small by any means, has gotten wayyyy too stuffed to the point where we just wear the same stuff over and over again. Our friend, Olivia, convinced us to finally do a major clean-out and enlist in some help with organizing, donating, and selling our clothes, so shutout to Raina for all of your help so far! Before we get into our tips for cleaning out your closet, we wanted to share these adorable accessories that are perfect for fall, especially once you clean out your closet, and make room for some new pieces! These peep-toe sandals are super comfy and a great neutral shoe. Especially if you will be decluttering, you need a good shoe like this that is versatile and can be worn into the fall months. The crossbody bag is also a great neutral color and can be worn with jeans, shorts, dresses, etc. The black scarf can be worn with shorts or jeans as a shawl or scarf. And, now for our tips on decluttering your closet:
Figure out what is taking up the most space in your closet, or what is causing the most problems
Instead of tackling your closet in one day and becoming overwhelmed, set aside 30-60 minutes a day to go through a section of your closet and get rid of pieces you don’t need anymore.
If you’re starting by section, take everything out, and sort through the pieces by setting up a donate pile, keep pile, and sell pile.
Organize your closet by sections. For example: jeans, dresses, sweaters, skirts, etc.
Remove items you haven’t worn in the past year because chances are you will NOT wear them!
For every item you add to your closet, take one out. This is something we started, especially with shoes, to make sure don’t end up running low on space again!

We have been getting such great blog topic ideas from y’all! One of the topics you all had requested was sharing what we would eat to make some healthier choices when eating out for brunch. We know that eating out is definitely a social activity, and who wants to sit at home and miss out on fun outings just because you’re trying to eat healthier! Trust us, you can ALWAYSmake a healthier choice no matter what! Before we get into our tips, we wanted to talk about this super cute yellow dress and these affordable neutral accessories! This dress is so cute, and who doesn’t just feel happier when they are wearing yellow? We love yellow anything! We are wearing a S in the dress for reference, and are 5’1″, so you all can get an idea of how tall we are, and where the dress hits us. The peep toe sandals and bag are both from Sole Society and great transitional pieces for fall! You could wear these sandals with jeans, skirts, dresses, and shorts!
And, now for our healthy eating tips for eating out for brunch:
stick to lean proteins like eggs, chicken, fish, etc.
swap out starchy sides like potatoes and fried foods for fruits or side salads.
ask for sauces on the sides (like hollandaise, etc).
sides of salsa can be a great addition on top of eggs or any other dish.
order black coffee with unsweetened almond or coconut milk and stevia (more about our coffee orders in this post).
if ordering sweet dishes like French Toast or pancakes, split it with the table, and order a healthier protein-filled dish for your main meal.
if choosing an alcoholic beverage, stick to plain champagne.
skip out on sugary granola, and if ordering oatmeal, ask for it plain (no sugar or butter), and add in your own sweetener or fresh fruit.
we love ordering a hot tea or hot water with lemon to drink as well!
Some of our favorite things to order at brunch are:
omelette with vegetables and a side of fruit or side salad (dressing on the side)
bunless burger with a side salad or fruit
salad with salmon or chicken (dressing on the side)
eggs and steak with vegetables
eggs with turkey bacon or 1 link of sausage and vegetables
eggs with plain oatmeal and fresh fruit
All the accessories we styled in this post are from Sole Society . In case you haven’t realized, we live in neutral bags and shoes. They have the best stuff!
As many of y’all know, we are MAJOR coffee fans. We legit could polish off an entire pot ourselves, haha. In the summer, though, hot coffee doesn’t always sound very appealing. We wanted to share our go-to coffee drinks (and healthier options) for when you are ordering a drink at your local coffee shop! Before we get into our drink orders, this off shoulder dress is a great option for a hot, summer day! It has the cutest bow detailing on the arms, and it is 40% off right now, making it under $27. This blue color is sold out, but it is still available in a cream color and a blush, which are both super pretty! These buckle sandals have been our favorite summer sandal right now. They are really comfortable, and they go with everything! They are a great sandal if you’re heading out for a trip and don’t want to have to pack a ton of sandals. You can wear them with shorts, dresses, and jeans, and the color is a great neutral. The earrings are a great pop of color, without being too much, and the bag is a comfy, cross-body bag that can be worn so many different ways.
So, now, for our favorite coffee drinks. We took these pictures at one of our favorite patios in Dallas, Lekka. They have amazing food, desserts, and coffee. We ordered a regular iced coffee with a little bit of unsweetened almond milk on the side. We usually don’t put sweetener in our coffee, but if we do, we will use this stevia and carry it in our purses!
Some other drinks we love are:
Latte with unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk
Americano
Unsweetened green or herbal tee
Iced Passion Tea with green tea at Starbucks
Iced Coffee (black) with unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk with stevia or cinnamon on top
Black coffee with cinnamon sprinkled on top
These super cute, affordable accessories are from Sole Society . If you’re looking for some great neutral shoes or bags, their pieces are a must!
