Before we get into the main topic of this blog, we wanted to talk about this easy, summer look! When it hits the 90’s in Dallas, we basically want to live in minimal clothing, as weird as that sounds, haha. This black cami is loose and flowy, and comes in a few other colors! We paired with these denim cutoffs that we seriously live in. They are AMAZING! Now, about the accessories: this saddlebag is what we brought to Napa and SF, and it fit SO much in it. These lace up sandals are a great neutral shoe, and a good heel height because they are not too hight or not too short!Okay, and now about our main topic: staying positive. It is probably one of the most difficult things to do. I (Alexis), for one, struggle with being positive way too often. I would say Samantha is better at being positive, and I am usually the one who is more likely to get impatient or judgmental. If a lot of stuff goes wrong in my day, I am just left with this “feeling sorry for myself” feeling, and am pouting the rest of the day. That is probably a little bit of an exaggeration, but it is so true, haha.I feel like staying positive is definitely a learned skill, or something that you have to practice constantly. I have been trying to be better at not thinking the worst of every situation and wanted to give some tips (you may have heard some of these on our most recent podcast) on how I am trying to stay more positive. 1. Look at Pinterest inspirational quotes:
I know Pinterest can be a spot where we all look for recipes, outfit ideas, decor, etc., but they do have a lot of inspirational quotes that I love reading. Sometimes when I am down, I go and read a bunch of them and instantly feel better. I also love saving them and setting them to my computer background or phone background. 2. Think about the current situation and if it will matter a week, a month, or year from now:
I know for me, I tend to get really upset about small things, and also stress about them. Most of the time they end up being SO silly, and get resolved, so sitting there stressing doesn’t do anything but stress me out even more, and raise my blood pressure. I think it is great to kind of shift your thinking, and ask yourself if your current situation will be corrected in a week, month, or even year from now. 3. Take care of yourself or do an activity that will clear your mind:
Happy Thursday! Today, we wanted to share this adorable peplum cami, and also since we haven’t covered this yet: the 1o items we always buy at the grocery store. First, let’s talk about this cami. It’s under $30, and PERFECT for summer! It is the perfect amount of flouncy and ruffly, without being too much. We paired it with these jeans shorts that are super stretchy for a perfect July 4th outfit idea! These sandals are a great nude pair and they’re not too high, even with shorts! Now, moving onto the 10 items we buy at the grocery store pretty much every week. As you all know, we typically stick to vegetables, fruits, and lean proteins. We buy most of our groceries at Sam’s Club or Costco because we eat a TON of vegetables. We also shop at Trader Joe’s or Central Market. Okay, so maybe I added 12 items, but most of them are vegetables, so you get the idea;)
Can you all believe it is June already?! I swear, yesterday, I kept thinking it was Monday! The weather was super rainy and gross, so it made it even more like a Monday!
Luckily, this skirt is super fun and bright and brightens any yucky day! As you all can tell, I am ALL about neon colors. This skirt is no different! How fun is this striped skirt? Every time I post it or wear it, I get SO many compliments on it. AND, it is under $50. I have gotten so much use out of it and I have only had it for a month!
I love how it comes in petite sizes because even though I don’t look super short in most pictures, I am only 5’1″! The skirt also comes in regular sizes, but the petite fit great! I am wearing a 00 petite for reference, and I love that it has an elastic waist because it won’t get super tight if you get a food baby like I usually do, haha.I paired it with a white tank, but I was also thinking it would be super cute with a chambray shirt, or even something like a light pastel tank or shirt. OR, if you want to be really bright, a bright gingham button up! I may have to try that next!I also LOVE these sandals. They are super comfy and simple, and super affordable!Oh yeah, and THIS bag! How fun is it? It is actually a kids’ bag, but I just had to have it! It is super cute for a night out or just a cute summer bag for heading to brunch! It is pretty small, but it fits a phone and one of those little card holders like this one to put all your cash and credit cards in!
Hope you all have the best day and a great rest of your week! Thanks for stopping by! Xo
