Y’all have probably seen that we have a slight obsession with David Yurman jewelry. Since we wear them pretty much everyday, they get dirty, and who wants non-sparkly jewels? We had a few requests to share how keep our jewelry, especially our Yurman pieces clean. The best part is, it is super easy! All you need is some mild soap like baby shampoo or mild dish detergent, a cotton cloth, a gentle toothbrush, and a polishing cloth.
When you buy your Yurman pieces, they usually give you a polishing cloth. You can use this to clean your bracelets in between cleaning. The light/white side of a silver polishing cloth will rub away the tarnish from the pieces. The darker side of a silver polishing cloth will buff the piece, and you can also buff the gemstones. We also use another method to clean them (and also recommended on the David Yurman website):
- Use a clean, cotton cloth and mild dish detergent diluted in water. Apply the diluted dish detergent to the clean cotton cloth or gentle toothbrush.
- Dip the toothbrush into the solution and brush it gently against the surface of the stone. We like using a toothbrush because it is soft, and won’t hurt and scratch the stone and can reach the crevices.
- For bracelets with pearls, use a mild soap (not detergent) and a soft cloth. Rinse pearls in clean water and wrap them in a thin, damp cotton towel to dry.
- For gemstones, use a mild dishwashing soap with water and use the same steps as described above.
