We get so many questions about our favorite lip colors, so we wanted to share some of our favorite lip shades for summer. Some that are longer wear, and some that just moisturize your lips in this heat! We love a good light or bright pink just to brighten up your face and add some color! We usually gravitate to a longer wear for events or dinner, and prefer a gloss, or lighter color for daytime. One of our favorite longer wear colors is this Yves Saint Laurent Tatouage Couture Matte Lip Stain in ‘Original Fuchsia”. What we love about this one is that it is a great pink shade, it lasts up to 8 hours, and it is super light, so t doesn’t feel heavy on your lips.
Happy Tuesday! We are currently in Mexico with our mom to celebrate our 27th birthday tomorrow! We are actually trying to take some much-needed time off this week, so we are *trying* to post less, and really be present, so in case you all are wondering why our posts have slowed down this week ;) Since we are in full summer mode, and your makeup literally sweats and melts off the second you step outside, we wanted to share some of our beauty must-haves that stay on in this heat, and are also lightweight enough to wear in humidity! We both don’t wear a ton of makeup to begin with, so we try to keep it pretty light and natural looking. One of our favorite is this Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment with SPF 15 in ‘Tulip’. We love it because it has a light tint, so it is great for every day, and it also moisturizes and protects your lips from the sun.As far as a base layer, we ALWAYS use sunscreen every single day. We love this Supergoop ‘Everyday’ SPF50 because it goes on smooth and doesn’t have a strong scent!
To prime our face before foundation, we will usually use this Laura Mercier Radiance Foundation Primer. You can use it under foundation or with some tinted moisturizer. We love that it gives you a radiant glow for summer, and also helps your makeup go on smoother and last all day long!
A good bronzer is key in getting that sun-kissed look! We have been using this Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in ‘Aruba’ for years, and love the color and light sparkle it gives!
We are SOOOO excited to finally share our laser hair removal experience with y’all! We have actually talked about our experience at Enlighten Dallas in our podcast here, but we wanted to talk about it on the blog as well to give you all more info. To be honest, we had been wanting to do it for the longest time, but were scared because of the pain. Let us tell you, you will NOT regret it. Best decision we have made when it comes to beauty, and we will share why!
We are the type of girls who shave every.single.day, so being hairy is not in our vocabulary 😉 We are going to be talking about the process, and literally everything you need to know about laser hair treatment. First off, we got our treatments done at Enlighten MD in Dallas. We would definitely recommend going there if you are in Dallas, or somewhere close to Dallas. If not, we recommend finding a reputable place because it is a serious procedure, and you want to make sure it is done properly. We have had nothing but the best experience with all of our treatments at Enlighten MD, and trust their highly trained technicians and high-tech machines.
We chose to get our bikini area and underarm areas treated with the laser. We honestly saw a HUGE difference in both areas. Our underarms used to have a major shadow from our hair underneath the skin, so it always looked kind of dark, but now, they are totally clean and no shadow! We both got our bikini areas done and love the results we have gotten. We don’t have to shave really at all anymore, and it is a a game changer!
Some common Q+A’s:
So, you may be wondering what exactly is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal permanently reduces or eliminates unwanted hair on the entire body using a precise pulse of light energy, thereby eliminating the need to shave, wax or tweeze.
How Does Laser Hair Treatment Work?
A combination of energy and heat are beamed into the hair follicle. The pigment in the hair follicle absorbs the light, which in turn destroys the hair follicle without harming the skin around it. A series of treatments are necessary in order to destroy the hair follicles in their different growth cycles.
Who Is A Candidate For Laser Hair Removal?
It is best for individuals with a contrast between their skin color and the pigment in their hair follicles. The best candidates are those with light skin and dark course hair. If you do have darker skin more treatments will be necessary for a full reduction.
What Should You Expect During The Treatment?
During the treatment, the pulses may feel like a “rubber band snap.” After the treatment, you may experience a temporary “sunburn” sensation, some redness and scabbing. You have a choice whether to use our numbing cream or not. Most patients opt out for numbing for treatment under the arms, but other areas are more sensitive, in which case numbing cream is available.
We personally used the topical numbing cream on our bikini area, but not on our underarms.
What Is The Recovery?
None to several days.
How Long Does Each Treatment Take?
5 – 60 minutes, depending on the areas treated.
How Long Does It Take To See Results?
3 weeks.
How Long Does The Treatment Last?
There should be permanent hair reduction in the treated areas.
How Long Should You Go In Between Treatments?
There are are a total of 6 sessions, each 4-6 weeks apart, which are included in any package. A 7th touch up is included to achieve permanent hair reduction. For darker complexions, a patient may need several more touch up treatments, and others opt in for touch-ups over time since the body’s hormonal system can change over time.
Is There Anything You Should Do Before And After A Treatment?
PRE-CARE: Avoid plucking, waxing, electrolysis and sun exposure (tanning) for 6 weeks prior to treatment. The winter time is the best time for treatment on areas of the body that are in direct sunlight. Other areas like the underarms and bikini can be treated year round.
POST-CARE: Avoid sun exposure (tanning) for 6 weeks after the treatment. Apply moisturizer and sunscreen SPF 45+.
How Much Does It Cost?
The cost depends on the areas treated. To get more info, call for pricing at Enlighten MD at 214.964.0860.

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend. Summer is in full swing, especially if you all are in Texas, like us! We wanted to share some of our summer hair must haves the we use all year, especially when the weather is warmer. As you all know, we have hair extensions and balayage, so taking proper care of our hair is crucial! One of our favorite hair brands, Oribe (which we tried recently and LOVE) has the best travel set, perfect for summer travels! This set is an exclusive set with Nordstrom, so we recommend grabbing it now before it is gone! The Oribe travel set has some of our favorite products from their line, and we love that their products are paraben-free and safe for color or keratin-treated hair:
Gold Lust Dry Shampoo : a transformative dry shampoo that helps extend your blowout and prevent damage (LOVE this one!!)
Dry Texturizing Spray : a revolutionary invisible dry spray that builds incredible volume and adds texture to any hairstyle (love for curling hair!)
You all have probably read or heard us mention that we try to go 5-7 days without washing our hair, so we really rely on lots of dry shampoo and good heating tools! We also rely on Drybar A LOT to get our hair blown out. We just fount this exclusive Texture Toolkit from Drybar that has a lot of our favorite products we like to use at home:
3-Day Bender 1″ Curling Iron: a curling iron with a patented rotating barrel designed for and used by stylists at Drybar shops across the U.S. to deliver smooth, long-lasting curls to thousands of clients every day (we love this one for smooth, silky curls!)
Tiny Tress Press Detailing Iron: a super-compact detailing iron that allows you to touchup hard-to-reach roots, bangs and flyaways at home or on the go (great iron for traveling or touching up hair near the root!)
Hold Me Hair Clips (2 clips): hair clips with an alligator jaw design to securely hold a large amount of hair out of your way, making sectioning simple and successful.
Triple Sec 3-in-1 Texturizing Spray : a portable spray that functions as a light, clear, dry shampoo, absorbing oil and instantly leaving hair feeling fresh and clean.
Whiskey Fix Styling Paste : a unique wax/pomade that provides texture and medium hold to hair without making it sticky or stiff.
Another hair must-have for summer is this Bounceback Pack. It has three of our go-to products for dirty hair and maintaining our fresh blowouts! What is so great about this pack is that they are all travel-sized, so you can easily pack them for a trip or weekend getaway!
Travel-size Detox Dry Shampoo : a dry shampoo that absorbs oil, impurities and odor while providing body and fullness, leaving hair feeling fresh and clean (a hair MUST)!
Hold Me Hair Clips (2 clips): a hair clip with an alligator jaw design that securely holds a large amount of hair out of your way, making sectioning simple and successful.
All of these hair must haves, as well as this easy, patriotic look are from Nordstrom. We love that they carry SO many of our favorite beauty must-haves, and that they offer free shipping and returns. We use their in-store-pickup every week– slightly embarrassing 😉 For reference, we are wearing size xs in the tank size 25 in the shorts, and size 7 in the sandals.
With Mother’s Day around the corner, we are SO excited to share our mom on the blog today! She is so special to us, and she actually helps us with so many of the photos you see on our Instagrams and blog. She is one of the most patient, selfless, and kind people. No matter how much she has on her plate, she will take the time out of her day to help us.She has taught us so much growing up, and we both strive to be not only the person she is, but the amazing mom she has been to us. One of the most important things she taught us was how to feel beautiful both on the inside and the outside. As she would say, “beauty stems from within,’ and she couldn’t be more correct.
As little girls, we remember our mom styling our ponytails to perfection. The middle part was always super straight and even. Looking at pictures, it seemed like we never had a bad hair day! As perfect as our hair looked, she never stopped reminding us to be confident young girls and to believe in ourselves. We remember watching her straighten her tight curls, and admiring how talented she was with her hair. As we got older, we remember trying to mimic her—wanting to be just like our mom!
Flash forward decades later, and we are still bonding over all things beauty, specifically hair related tools! We all recently tried Conair’s 2-in-1 Styler that allows you to both curl and straighten. This was a win for all of us, as our mom likes to straighten her hair, and we both typically wear ours curled. We loved that you can create multiple styles with the simplicity of one tool, and it is super easy to use.
You can get this Conair product at Target, and it makes a great gift for Mother’s Day! We also love their other products.
We are SO excited for today’s post because we are FINALLY talking all about facials at one of our favorite spots, Enlighten. They are a medical spa and have the cutest boutique, too! We have gotten so many services done there, including laser hair treatment and semi-pemanent makeup on our brows, which will both have full blog posts coming soon!
We are pretty good about taking care of our skin (see this post for what we use), but every few weeks, your skin needs a deeper cleaning by a professional 😉 Let’s be honest, it is kind of like going to the dentist: once they remind us how important it is to floss, we are better about it, and in this case, better about applying the right serums, moisturizers, sunscreen, etc. It is a good little reminder!]
Unlike some other facials we have gotten before, Darla at Enlighten (who is incredible!!) customizes each facial, so no two facials are the same for anyone. There is no “menu” of facials here. Even though we are twins, our skin has different needs, and therefore, different facials! She used products by the finest companies like Natura Bisse,Glytone,Elta MD, Ladyganics, and SkinCeuticals.
Most of the facials include massage, unless theres an active acne breakout. While others are more concentrated on exfoliation and extractions for deep clean.
They also just had a MAJOR upgrade to a new machine that they are super excited about (and we got to try already!). It is called Dermal Infusion treatment, and it is a 3-in-1 treatment. It exfoliates, extracts, and infuses!
A little more about what the treatment is: It is a professional exfoliation treatment that helps product penetrate deep within the skins surface, where the skin specific serum has most impact. They use 4 different types of serums to infuse: Ultra Hydrating, Vitamin C, Brightening, and Pore Clarifying. The serum that is used is determined by Darla once she cleanses and examines the skin.
When we went, Darla used the PoreClarifying on her chin to address an active breakout, and then the Brightening everywhere else. For Alexis, she used the Brightening serum all over.
Here are some before and after results of the Dermal Infusion:
