How We Meal Prep For The Week

With everyone’s busy schedules, we thought we would share what we meal prep and how we typically do it, as well as some tips for you all! We used to meal prep every Sunday when we worked our corporate jobs, but now, since we work from home, it is much easier to cook things as we go.

Typically, we grocery shop (see what we buy here) at least once a week, sometimes twice a week. We buy a ton of fruits and vegetables, which don’t really require much prep.

Before we get into our tips, we are loving these leopard sneaker mules from Sole Society. They are so comfortable AND cute. We have size 7 for reference. Another one of our favorites is this crossbody satchel bag. Great for traveling, or every day, and it goes with everything!

Make A Plan

We love looking at Pinterest, Instagram, or magazines for meal ideas. We like having some sort of plan or things we want to make for that week. We are creatures of habit, so we cook a lot of the same things. Once you have an idea, you can make a list of ingredients to buy, and then make for your meals.

We shared a sample plant-based meal plan in this post.

Prep Breakfast And Work Meals

Since we are all busy in the mornings, we recommend prepping your breakfast (see some ideas in this post) ahead of time. We also suggest prepping whatever you will eat at work. We used to prep all of our food on Sundays, and then would freeze the second half of the week to ensure the meals didn’t go bad. If you eat meat, we used to make sweet potato, chicken, and veggies. It was easy to make!

Invest In Containers

For a long time, we were using plastic containers we had for years, but last year, we invested in some glass containers that are BPA free and safe for the environment and free of chemicals. These can go in the dishwasher and microwave, and even oven! These are our favorite!

Cut Corners

If you don’t have time to chop veggies or rice cauliflower, there are pre-riced items, as well as pre-cut veggies and fruits. They may be more expensive, but if they save you time, go for it!

Bulk Cook Frequently Eaten Foods

For us, we bulk cook things like quinoa, lentils, and lentil pasta. If you eat meat, you can cook that ahead of time. Even things like veggies, you can cut up and wash ahead of time and store in air-tight containers, so all you have to do is put everything together for your meals.
