Happy Tuesday! It really feels like a Monday since Labor Day was yesterday, but we are not complaining about a shorter week. Since it is September, that means it is time to start transitioning our wardrobe into fall. We know that can be kind of tricky, considering it is still in the 90’s here, and probably will be pretty warm for a couple more months. We wanted to share a few of our favorite ways to update your fall wardrobe using just a few additions that you probably already have in your closet!
These olive booties are a great twist on a neutral bootie. They go with everything from blacks to browns, and they can be worn with shorts and dresses, too!
One of our main tips is to pair a bootie (can be olive or a light or medium tan color) with denim shorts, dresses, or ripped jeans! You can style them with a basic v-neck tee, like we did here, or with a light sweater or cardigan.
We also love shifting to more fall-based, warmer colors like olives, tans, burgundy, deep purples, etc. This scarf is a great way to add that color to your outfit. It is lightweight, so you can start wearing it now, even in warmer temperatures. You can also wear it as a shawl! Ripped jeans are also a great piece to add your fall wardrobe. They just add a more casual vibe to any outfit, and we love them in any color like black, white, olive, or dark and light washes.A great crossbody bag is great for every day. It really pulls your outfit together, and the grey is a great neutral color that will go with everything!Sole Society has great pieces to help transition your wardrobe for fall. They have so many great neutral options at super affordable prices, which we are all about!
Can you all believe it is Labor Day Weekend?! It seems like the summer was just starting! We are sad to see summer go, but we are really excited for fall and fall outfits. We wanted to share some outfit ideas for those of you who don’t know what to wear, but still want to look cute! Also, below we are sharing some big sales taking place this holiday weekend!
We have used several rental services in the past, but this one is by far our favorite! In case you have missed our other posts on Switch, you can check them out in this post and this post. What we love about Switch, is that you can rent designer jewelry each month for under $30/month. They are a designer jewelry rental subscription service that gives members access to brands like David Yurman, Hermès, Dior, and more! The service is under $30 a month, which is far less than any of these designer pieces! They recently designed their website, which is gorgeous, and they have a ton of new pieces that you all should definitely check out!Their base plan allows you to have one piece at a time for $29 a month, but you can also choose other plans that allow you to have more than one piece per month if you want more options! The process is super easy: Subscribe, Style, Switch.
We haven’t done a roundup of our Instagram in a while, so we wanted to share some of our faves from this month + our favorite blog posts, in case you’ve missed any of them! To shop each outfit below, click the items to shop them directly! You can also shop all of our outfits at adoubledose.com/outfits or adoubledose.com/instagram.

This coral top is the prettiest color and it is under $40!
Again, love yellow! This knit is so cozy and can be worn with shorts and jeans!
If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you know Alexis and I recently packed our bags for fun beach getaway with our parents to Grand Cayman. If y’all haven’t been, definitely add it to your getaway list! We have been traveling there for our annual family vacation for the last eleven years, and y’all the water and sand literally look like a postcard! It’s the one time we are all together relaxing as a family, so I always look forward to it (not to mention the amazing tan I get every time)! On that note, while I love a good getaway, I’ll be honest, I despise packing! It just stresses me out and I always put it off in hopes it will get done on its own. Anyone else relate? Both Alexis and I get asked a lot about essentials for summer travels (or year round for that matter), so I thought why not cover what I took with me on this beach trip as well as some essentials!
I love using my American Express #BlueCashEveryday Card to stock up on travel essentials because it gives me cash back, including 3% at US Supermarkets, 2% on gas and department stores and 1% on everything else! It also has no annual fee, which I love! I’ve been using this card for over four years and have nothing but great things to say! When I am heading to the beach, obviously, swimsuits are number one on the list! This is semi- embarrassing but for this trip, between the two of us, we took about 25 swimsuits for a week! Clearly, we will be doing lots of shooting on the beach! I like to take a variety of suits on trips for different activities. For example, if you’re going on a cruise or somewhere where you’ll be doing different water activities like snorkeling, jet skiing, sailing, scuba diving, etc., you’ll want something that stays put. We know we have all been there where your suit is super cute but not so much when half of your chest is hanging out or your bottoms are falling down…OOPS! These are some of my favorites for activities like this because they’re all super cute for photos AND stay in place:
Another essential are coverups! You could always do the basic cutoff and tank, which is always a good option if you’re going to be out and about and want to be able to wear stuff! These are some of my favorite shorts for that. Some other good options for coverups are these kimonos/scarfs that can double as a sarong for walking around and can be tied differently—just search sarong ties on Pinterest! I also love a good off shoulder coverup like this one with tassels or a cute black or white one that can be used for years.
For the evenings, I love a good sundress or romper. I take a few black and white options that can be easily dressed up with heels or down with flats depending on the look you’re going for. I’ll also pack lots of fun colors because who doesn’t want to look bright and cheery on vacation? They don’t have to be expensive either! I’ll get a bunch for under $20 that look nice and classy paired with a cute bag and heels. Some other must haves are a good beach tote. I like to double up my plane bag as my beach tote to save room! I love this one by Carmon Sole that has the cutest studs at the top and is wipeable. This one is also one of my favorites that you can customize! On that note, y’all know how much working out is part of my lifestyle, so I always pack enough workout clothes for each day I am on vacation and some running shoes! No, that doesn’t mean you have to workout everyday, but it at least gives you the option to do so and no excuses not to!
Lastly, here are some other essentials I always pack:
Tinted moisturizer with SPF to throw on in the morning before heading to breakfast for the beach
A good pair of sunnies (I usually bring one or two)
Curling wand in case you want to do your hair—I usually wear it natural or up in a top bun, but in the event I want to style it
You may be wondering if I have all of these products already or stock up before the trip. Some of the suits and pieces I have already, but I like to buy a few cute things for each trip. I like to take fresh sunscreen and cosmetics with me on every trip, especially if it’s travel sizes. I also like to take new stuff so that way there’s less of a chance of it leaking in transit!
I also love that with being an American Express card member, I am automatically eligible for ShopRunner. If you’re wondering what that is, it provides all members with unlimited free two-day shipping and free return shipping! There are tons of stores that are part of this program like Neiman Marcus, GNC, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales, and Sole Society, just to name a few! I love this program for ordering stuff in general, but specifically for last minute packing like this trip!
If you haven’t listened to our “An Extra Dose” podcast episode where we talk about traveling tips, definitely check it out! We all talked about what we take for international travel that has helped us a lot!
Happy Friday! This week has been crazy busy for us, and with everyone heading back to school, especially college, we know all of y’all are busy, too! Since it is that time, and we are reminiscing our college days, we wanted to share some things we wish we had known when we started college. Of course, everyone is different when it comes to big life changes like that, but we remember being so excited, but also so nervous to start this new chapter in our lives! Before we get into that, we wanted to share this super cute (and COMFY) look with y’all! If any of you are from Texas, you know that in college, most girls wear a giant t-shirt and shorts that you can’t even see underneath the shirt, haha. SO attractive, right? These jogger pants are extremely comfy, and the best part is, they are socially acceptable to wear out! If we were still in college, we would most definitely wear these to class!
The color of them is great, and they go with everything! We love them paired with a comfy sneaker like these that are actually under $70! The pink and white bottom is so fun. The bra has the cutest strappy back, which are major suckers for. You can throw a cute tank over it, and you’re good to go!Speaking of class, here is what we wish we would have known when we started college:
DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU, NOT WHAT YOU’RE ‘SUPPOSED’ TO DO:
This is a topic we have talked about before a lot, and we know it is not easy to do at all. When you go to to college, you will feel like you have to join a sorority/fraternity, you have to be at every social event, you have to find a boyfriend, you have to drink, etc. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Just because everyone else is doing those things, doesn’t mean you have to do them, too. We were in a sorority for a little bit, and ended up getting out and joining another organization very similar to a sorority became that is what felt right to us at the time (nothing against Greek life at all. We loved the sorority we were in, but the point is, do what works for you!)
BRANCH OUT AND MEET NEW PEOPLE:
We know it can be easy, especially if you’re going to a bigger school to stick to what you know and hang out with the same people from high school. You can definitely still hang out with them, but it is so important to branch out and meet new people. You’re only in college once, so this is the time to make new friends and create new experiences for yourself!
DON’T PANIC IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOUR FUTURE HOLDS:
You may not know what you want to major in, or what you want your career to be, but you don’t have to have it all figured out. Also, even if you major in something, it doesn’t mean you have to pursue a career in that field, or even stay in it for a long time. We don’t do anything close to what we though we would be doing, or even what our corporate job out of college was.
BEING AWAY CAN BE HARD, AND THERE IS AN ADJUSTMENT PERIOD:
We are super close with our parents, so being 10 hours away initially was pretty tough for us. We had each other, of course, but it was hard knowing that your comfort zone that you no longer have is not close-by anymore. It can be easy to just drive home or fly home every free chance you get, but those are the times that you have to keep yourself busy, and create a life for yourself. Trust us, you will be so grateful for them later. When you have to move again to a new city, the adjustment period will be so much easier because you’ve already done it before.
GO TO OFFICE HOURS AND TAKE TIME TO STUDY:
This may sound silly, but really, you are in college to study and get a job after it is all said and done. Of course, it doesn’t need to be all work, and no play, but you do need to remember why you’re there spending so much money, haha. We were both the kind of people that had to study our butts off to do well, and it was important to us. We definitely had our fun, but we made sure we were always prepared. We are both not people who like to be at the front of the class, or people that would go talk to the professor after class, etc, but going to their office hours really is important, as much as we hated it! First off, they get to know you amongst all the other people in the class. Secondly, you can get more hands-on information about material you may not be understanding well, or just clarification. It makes all the difference, trust us!
We hope those tips were helpful! If y’all have any other questions, please reach out! We found all of these super cute pieces that you can wear from gym to lunch, class, or errands from Finish Line. We love shopping in their New Arrivals section because we can find the newest pieces that were just released! What we love about Finish Line is that they have so many different sneaker and workout apparel options and a lot of times, it is on sale, which is even better!
