With Mother’s Day around the corner, we are SO excited to share our mom on the blog today! She is so special to us, and she actually helps us with so many of the photos you see on our Instagrams and blog. She is one of the most patient, selfless, and kind people. No matter how much she has on her plate, she will take the time out of her day to help us.She has taught us so much growing up, and we both strive to be not only the person she is, but the amazing mom she has been to us. One of the most important things she taught us was how to feel beautiful both on the inside and the outside. As she would say, “beauty stems from within,’ and she couldn’t be more correct.
As little girls, we remember our mom styling our ponytails to perfection. The middle part was always super straight and even. Looking at pictures, it seemed like we never had a bad hair day! As perfect as our hair looked, she never stopped reminding us to be confident young girls and to believe in ourselves. We remember watching her straighten her tight curls, and admiring how talented she was with her hair. As we got older, we remember trying to mimic her—wanting to be just like our mom!
Flash forward decades later, and we are still bonding over all things beauty, specifically hair related tools! We all recently tried Conair’s 2-in-1 Styler that allows you to both curl and straighten. This was a win for all of us, as our mom likes to straighten her hair, and we both typically wear ours curled. We loved that you can create multiple styles with the simplicity of one tool, and it is super easy to use.
You can get this Conair product at Target, and it makes a great gift for Mother’s Day! We also love their other products.

We are SO excited for today’s post because we are FINALLY talking all about facials at one of our favorite spots, Enlighten. They are a medical spa and have the cutest boutique, too! We have gotten so many services done there, including laser hair treatment and semi-pemanent makeup on our brows, which will both have full blog posts coming soon!
We are pretty good about taking care of our skin (see this post for what we use), but every few weeks, your skin needs a deeper cleaning by a professional 😉 Let’s be honest, it is kind of like going to the dentist: once they remind us how important it is to floss, we are better about it, and in this case, better about applying the right serums, moisturizers, sunscreen, etc. It is a good little reminder!]
Unlike some other facials we have gotten before, Darla at Enlighten (who is incredible!!) customizes each facial, so no two facials are the same for anyone. There is no “menu” of facials here. Even though we are twins, our skin has different needs, and therefore, different facials! She used products by the finest companies like Natura Bisse,Glytone,Elta MD, Ladyganics, and SkinCeuticals.
Most of the facials include massage, unless theres an active acne breakout. While others are more concentrated on exfoliation and extractions for deep clean.
They also just had a MAJOR upgrade to a new machine that they are super excited about (and we got to try already!). It is called Dermal Infusion treatment, and it is a 3-in-1 treatment. It exfoliates, extracts, and infuses!
A little more about what the treatment is: It is a professional exfoliation treatment that helps product penetrate deep within the skins surface, where the skin specific serum has most impact. They use 4 different types of serums to infuse: Ultra Hydrating, Vitamin C, Brightening, and Pore Clarifying. The serum that is used is determined by Darla once she cleanses and examines the skin.
When we went, Darla used the PoreClarifying on her chin to address an active breakout, and then the Brightening everywhere else. For Alexis, she used the Brightening serum all over.
Here are some before and after results of the Dermal Infusion:
We hope you all had a great week. We had the MOST incredible time at El Dorado Royale (full review coming soon)! We had so many of y’all message us saying you have stayed at this hotel before, have honeymooned there, or just want to come after seeing our pictures and stories, so we LOVE that!
Before we get into that topic, we want to share this spring floral look that is perfect for Mother’s Day coming up, or graduation! We paired it with some of our current favorite accessories from Sole Society that are neutrals, so they go with everything! This clutch has been on major repeat these past few weeks and it comes in a few other colors, like yellow, which is so fun for spring and summer. These neutral wedges are surprisingly comfortable, and can be worn with shorts, dresses, rompers, or jeans. We love all of Sole Society’s pieces because of their price point and how versatile their pieces are! Today, we are going to be talking about a more personal topic that we haven’t really talked about before: dealing with negative comments. It is a sensitive topic, and we don’t want to give that much attention to it because as you all know, it just is giving those negative people more attention, but we did want to share our tips on how we deal with it in hopes that it will help you all, too! This floral dress is great spring dress because it is affordable, and fits SO well! We are wearing xxs petite, for reference! Now, about the main topic! We have all heard at one time or another that you can’t please everyone. Of course, we know that, but it is still a hard pill to swallow. At the end of the day, you just have to be yourself, and stay in your own lane, as tough as that can be. Honestly, when we both share stuff on Instagram and our blog, we aren’t thinking X amount of people are going to read this or make a judgment, etc. We are just sharing what we love, and 99% of the time, we get such sweet messages from you all, and such great feedback, which really makes our day! There is always going to be negativity out there, even if it is overall positive, and we totally get that. It can be hard to let go of the negative comments, no matter what they are. The thing is, when you put yourself out there, especially on social media, you are going to have people making judgements about you, your life, and your family, and most of it isn’t even true.
We may not have the highest “likes” on our photos, or may not appeal to every person reading or seeing our instagram feeds or blog, and that is okay because we truly LOVE what we do, and love the people that truly support us and raise us up. It is sad that there are people out there that will go out of their way to write something negative about you, and actually feel “ok” doing so. We were always taught that if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything, and we think that definitely applies here.Of course, we all can be “judgy” at different times, whether it is out of jealousy, anger, frustration, etc, but when you go out of your way to write something public about someone, that is a whole other level, especially when you’re making assumptions that are totally false. The point of this post is not to get attention, or to get people to feel sorry, but we just wanted to say that even if it is behind a screen, people still have feelings, and we know we aren’t the only people that have felt this way before.
We wanted to share some of our tips with you all on how we deal with negativity:
-Talk to friends or family about what you’re feeling, don’t just hide it and bury it
-As hard as it may be, addressing the negativity most of the time doesn’t resolve it, and just makes you feel better temporarily, so it is best to just drop it and move on
-Understand that the people creating the negativity are unhappy and in a bad place
-Remove yourself from the negativity, if possibleOn a more positive note, we wanted to thank ALL of you for your support and sweet messages. You really don’t know how much it makes our day to talk with you all. You all are the reason we love what we do, and we are so grateful!
We are ALLLL about the comfy loungewear. Especially since we we work from home, you can find us plugging away in this kind of look- aka NO makeup or hair done, haha. Give us all the cozies! This camo hoodie and jogger set is SO cute and it can be mixed and matched with other pieces, like denim. The highlight of this cozy look is this adorable lavender lace bra (LOOOVE) that can be worn under a tee or tank. This one is from Wacoal, and they seriously have the best bras with good support. Be sure to check out the bottom of the post to see some of our other favorites.Since we are on the cozy topic, we wanted to share some of our favorite healthier drinks we sip on throughout the day. It is key to stay hydrated, so we have come up with some favorites that keep us sipping;)IN THE MORNINGS:
As y’all can tell, we don’t do a lot of caffeine after the mornings. This is what works best for us!We found these great bras from Wacoal all at Bloomingdales. We love the they have a really good selection of bras that fit any bust size, and they have so many options color-wise, too!
