We are SO excited because this weekend we will be going to the Gluten Free + Allergen Free Expo this weekend in Dallas (September 10th and 11th) . We were so sad to miss it last year because we were out of town! There will be a ton of brands, samples, and all of our favorite foods! We had the chance to attend the Natural Products Expo in Anaheim last March, and it was SO much fun. Not only did we get to meet a ton of our favorite bloggers and food companies, but we got to try a ton of yummy foods like ice cream, bars, popcorn, and nut butters. Oh, and we left with a TON of samples to take home with us;) Who doesn’t love that?
One of the brands we are excited to visit is Freschetta Gluten Free Pizza. As you all know, we stick to eating gluten-free because of our Hypothyroidism, so when it comes to pizza, we don’t really get to eat it that often. We were recently introduced to Freschetta, and we can’t wait to try their pizza at the expo!
Their pizzas are made with the freshest ingredients and come in a variety of flavors such as “4 Cheese Medley,” which is a blend mozzarella, Fontina, Parmesan, and Asiago, and “Signature Pepperoni Pizza”. The crust is thin and crispy, and is certified gluten free by the Celiac Support Association. They will be at booth 200 at the expo, if you all want to visit them and try to their pizzas!
We are definitely looking forward to attending the expo, and have our appetites ready;)
This post is sponsored by Freschetta Gluten Free Pizza, but all opinions are our own. Thank you for supporting the brands that allow A Double Dose to operate full time.
This post is something we have been wanting to write about for some time, and we get so many questions on how we got started into blogging, etc.
So, to start off, I may be repeating myself because I know I have talked about this several times on here, so sorry if you’ve already read some of this;) We have always had a major love for clothes, and styling pieces together. We loved shopping at an early age, and would frequently beg our parents to take us to the mall after school, on the weekends, or when we were on vacation. We knew exactly what we wanted to buy, and I am sure we embarrassed our parents with how much we would take into the dressing room to try on, haha.
To say we have a big closet would be an understatement. We do have a ton of clothes we still wear from high school and college, and love pairing those pieces with some newer pieces, as well as higher-end pieces. We are all about affordable pieces, but also love a good investment piece every once in a while, you know? Anyways, we actually majored in Management Information Systems from The University of Texas at Austin (hook ’em!) and both took a job in Dallas about three years ago at Ernst & Young (a Big 4 Accounting firm). I was working in IT Auditing, and Sam was working in Fraud Investigation. After a year of working there, we both decided that although it was a great job, we wanted something more, and didn’t feel fulfilled. So, we took a big leap of faith at just 23 to leave our job. We had some plans of what we wanted to do, but I will say that what we started doing at that time is definitely not what we are doing now.
We actually got certified as personal trainers while we were at our corporate jobs, and then personal trained clients after work, and eventually trained clients full-time. After about 8 months of training clients, we were burned out, and wanted to do something else. If I am being honest, I was also thinking, “What the heck am I going to do now?”. It was one of those moments where I felt so confused and had no idea where my career was going to go. I told myself that things would workout and I would eventually figure out what I wanted to do. We started blogging and sharing more of our outfits on our Instagram pages. I will say in the beginning it was not easy considering we were posting just fitness and food for the most part. It was basically like starting from scratch with Instagram because the people following me didn’t necessarily want to see all the clothes I was posting, if that makes sense? There were many days where my feelings were hurt, and I just felt like why am I bothering posting this stuff if nobody cares, but I told myself it is my own page, and I should be able to post whatever I feel like.
Eventually, after sticking with it for a while, our blog took off and we found our niche. Many people want to know how you can have a career out of blogging. First off, I want to say that I would have never thought that blogging and posting your outfits would require so much effort and thinking. We probably spend 85% of our time on our laptops answering emails, writing posts, etc. I absolutely love what I do and could stay up for hours working on content for you all. When you all send us emails and snapchat messages, it really makes our day, so thank you so much for doing that! We definitely read all of your emails and messages. You all probably wonder how we make money and support ourselves with a blog like this. We try to be as open with you all as possible, so we are happy to share this kind of stuff with y’all. We use affiliate links, will work with brands for sponsored content, etc. We are extremely careful when it comes to sponsored posts and the brand fitting well with our personal brand. This is how we support ourselves and pay our bills, so although it is tempting to take on a campaign with a brand for a large amount of money, we sometimes will decline those opportunities if it doesn’t mesh well with our blog and brand.
With all that being said, we are so fortunate to get to live our passion every day, and love communicating with all of you all. Without you all, none of this would be possible, and we appreciate your support more than anything. It can be hard some days to not compare yourself and your numbers (followers, likes, comments) with other bloggers, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t sometimes compare myself. I know that with the new Instagram algorithm, a lot of you all may not be seeing my posts, which sucks! I think a lot of it has to do with how much you all engage with me on my pictures? Not sure haha. Either way, if there’s anything you all want to see on our blog or have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out or comment on our Instagram pages.
We are so excited to finally be sharing our Texas getaway to Austin at the JW Marriott. We went to school in Austin, so it was SO fun to be able to go back there where we lived for four years. It is such an incredible city and one that will always be close to our hearts.
If you live in Dallas, the drive to Austin couldn’t be easier. It took us just three hours each way and was perfect because all we had to to do was throw all of our stuff in the car and enjoy our time together (okay, and arguing, too)!
It was so crazy to see how much the city has changed since we have been gone. The area that the hotel is in didn’t even exist when we lived there just three years ago. It used to be a lot with food trucks, so it is incredible that they have this gorgeous hotel there now. First off, the hotel is GORGEOUS. From the rooms to the lobby to the food to the gym. It is all stunning. More on that later!:)The room we were staying in was on the 30th floor and on the corner of the floor. Not only was the room absolutely stunning, but the views were AMAZING. The room had huge windows, so you had a great view of downtown and Lady Bird Lake. We could even see where we used to live in college. I love the leather headboards. It has a Texas feel, without being overly “western”! We are pretty picky about bathrooms, but we loved that this one had a big counter space and the lighting and tiling was beautiful!
We were welcomed with the cutest treat: a chocolate guitar filled with pretzel sticks, and our favorite, macarons!
The views were incredible!
Gotta include my outfit for the car ride since some of you asked about it:
After we got in, we walked around downtown a little bit and ventured off to Whole Foods, of course! We found this super fun tile on the ground, so of course, I had to snap a picture!
How awesome is this map behind the concierge desk?
I love the rope detailing in the lobby!
The lobby has this gorgeous glass fireplace, which I love!
We had access to the executive lounge, which was huge and stocked with all sorts of drinks and snacks. They also had breakfast and appetizers in the evening to grab!
They had coffee and espresso available all day long, which is perfect for us caffeine addicts!
Love the limestone on these columns outside!
For dinner, we went to one of their delicious restaurants, Osterio Pronto, which is an Italian cuisine. First off, the restaurant is GORGEOUS inside and out. The food was also just as incredible. They also have a wine bar, OP Wine Bar, which offers customized, shareable antipasti plates featuring a variety of marinated olives, regional cheeses, and cured and smoked meats that all come with a suggested wine pairing.
In addition to this restaurant, they also have two other restrains, Burger Bar and Corner Restaurant, which are always packed! It is located at the corner of 2nd and Congress. They have a great patio that overlooks downtown.Love the beams on the ceiling in the restaurant!
We don’t normally drink, but when we saw this cocktail list, we had to try it out!
Samantha got the Viola Nero, and I got the Rossore. Both so good!
Love when restaurants give you bread with olive oil! So authentic.
The menu has authentic Italian food, but also offers a variety of gluten free pastas, as well as chicken and fish.
We both started off with the Local Lettuce salad, and I got the salmon, and Samantha got the sea bass.
I love that the fish came with roasted vegetables.
Here is the adorable dress I wore to dinner!
The next morning, we had a great night of sleep and enjoyed some coffee in our room before heading to the gym!
The view from the pool (next to the gym) was gorgeous!
I was amazed at the size of the gym. Not only did it have every piece of cardio you could ever want, it had tons of weight machines, free weights, cables, squat rack, battle ropes, barbells, kettle bells, you name it!
The weight machines even counted your reps as you worked out, which I had never seen before!
After our workout, of course it was time for breakfast! We headed back to Osterio Pronto, which offers a full menu, as well as a breakfast buffet, which we had.
The buffet had a spread of little bites like these, as well as these amazing looking cinnamon rolls!
They had the cutest mimosa bar filled with fresh juices and fresh fruit. How cute are these bottles and straws?
The buffet also had bacon and sausage, fresh fruit, smoked meats, cereal, made-to-order omelets, yogurt, and pastries. You could also order waffles! We definitely loaded up and enjoyed every bite! Their coffee was incredible, and we are coffee addicts, so that says a lot! On Sunday, they had a brunch that offered extra things like brisket, which we loved! After breakfast, we headed to the pool, which overlooks Lady Bird Lake, and has a great bar as well.
We relaxed by the pool most of the day and enjoyed the great weather!
After the pool, we headed to the mall and dinner. The Domain is gorgeous and all outdoors, if you haven’t been! Here is what we we wore!
We saw a gorgeous sunset that night!
On Sunday, we woke up early, worked out, and had breakfast. We also walked on Town Lake, which is gorgeous! We used to walk on it almost every day when we lived in Austin.
After that, it was time to head back to Dallas!
We had such an incredible time there and can’t wait to come back soon! They will be opening a spa in the fall, which we are sure will be nothing short of amazing. We could not recommend this hotel more. If you have any questions at all about our stay or Austin, feel free to reach out any time!
Thank you to the team at the JW Marrriott for our stay.
Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great and relaxing weekend. If you all didn’t catch our snapchats, Samantha and I were actually apart this weekend (so shocking, I know!). We are typically always together, or at least, in the same city, but this weekend, she was away at a friend’s lake house, and I was in Dallas!
She wasn’t very good about writing out her workouts this week, so I am just sharing mine this week. We typically do similar workouts, if you all haven’t noticed already, so you all probably won’t notice! Anyways, as always, we will be sharing all of our workouts and eats from the past week. Again, I ate out a TON, haha, but I made sure to take pictures of everything I ate out for the most part. PS- we usually snapchat a ton of our meals [sbelbel] and [alexis.belbel]
Here’s what our workout schedule looked like this past week:
MONDAY: flywheel [sign up for a free class here!] we LOVE it!
TUESDAY: arms + cardio
WEDNESDAY: legs + cardio
THURSDAY: chest + triceps + cardio
FRIDAY: shoulders + cardio
SATURDAY: legs + cardio
SUNDAY: back + cardio
PS- you can save each of these workout images to your phone for easy access at the gym!
On Saturday and Sunday, I worked out with my boyfriend, and while we didn’t workout “together” it was fun! Before we share our meals, just wanted to share our favorite clothing pieces this week (just click to shop them directly!)
And, now for the meals from this past week. These are totally out of order, so I apologize!
Last Sunday, my boyfriend and I went on a 9.4 mile walk/run and were STARVING afterwards, so we went to Genghis Grill and made our own stir-frys. I love this spot because you can pick out exactly what you want! I always get a ton of seafood, chicken, veggies, and then do no sauce. I just use the sriricha after it is cooked. I also get cabbage and an egg mixed in with it! Since I stay away from butter and soy sauce, I just asked them to cook it with water!Yesterday, my boyfriend and I went to 18th and Vine in Dallas. We were starving and it was SO good. We didn’t even get any sides, but we did get brisket, burnt ends, and this jalapeño sausage. It was amazing! When I got home, I ate a ton of veggies and then I was ready to explode, haha.
Yesterday morning, I made my boyfriend and I some chocolate chip pancakes. I have to eat them every day;)
On Saturday, my boyfriend and I went to Buzzbrews for breakfast. I got the ‘Californiacation’, which is an egg white omelet with veggies and a side of fruit! I also had a ton of coffee. They have a coffee bar so it’s self-serve!After our workout on Saturday, we grabbed salads at Snappy Salads. I love this place because they give you so much, unlike the other places I have been to! I made my own with a ton of veggies, grilled chicken, and balsamic vinegar! We went and hung out with some of our friends by the pool so we snaked on some hummus and veggies and then grilled some burgers.
By the time I got home, I cleaned the house, and worked a little and then was ready for dinner. Since I had been eating out all day, I was ready for a home-cooked meal, haha. I cooked some chicken thighs in a pan with black pepper and then roasted some brussels sprouts, eggplant and bell peppers with olive oil and then sautéed mushrooms and onions with olive oil in a pan. It was all so good!
On Friday, we met up with a friend for dinner at Mudhen’s Meats and Greens at the Dallas Farmer’s Market. I can’t stay away from okra and roasted chicken!
On Friday, we met up with a friend for lunch at Villa-O. I got the chicken paillard, grilled. It comes with arugula and a zucchini noodle salad. SO good!On Thursday, we picked up a meal from Snap Kitchen. I got the ‘Naked Chicken’ which was so good! Highly recommend it!
For dinner on Wednesday, I sautéed mushrooms, zucchini, and onions in a pan and then had grilled chicken and roasted brussels sprouts, and eggplant.
On Tuesday, we had date night and went to Tillman’s Roadhouse. I got the roasted chicken (typical) and we shared the mushrooms, which were really yummy!
On Monday, we went to Flywheel, and afterwards, the last thing I wanted to do was cook, so we went to our favorite spot, Eatzis!
Happy Memorial Day! Hope you all had a great weekend! We had the best holiday weekend at home in El Paso. Our dad is a veteran, so it is a special day for us to spend with him. We never want to leave, but it is back to Dallas for us, but only for a few days before we head out of town again!
First off, I have to share my favorite workout clothes this week!
We were kind of rushed pretty much every day this week for our workouts, so some days, one of us didn’t even lift weights. We did do cardio pretty much every day, but I definitely had to slow down after my foot injury;)
Here’s what our workout schedule looked like:
MONDAY: Flywheel at night
TUESDAY: cardio + arms
WEDNESDAY: cardio + legs
THURSDAY : cardio + chest + calves
FRIDAY: cardio
SATURDAY: cardio + shoulders
SUNDAY: cardio + legs
PS- we have been doing Flywheel and have been loving it. If you haven’t tried it before, you can get your first class free here!
Chest (Sam): Arms (Alexis): Arms (Sam):Legs: Shoulders: Legs (Sam):Here a ton of our meals from this past week! We ate out a lot and then cooked a ton at home at our parents’ house, so prepare for a ton of food!
This was our meal last night for our Memorial Day BBQ. We made our zucchini salad. Recipe on our blog in one of our previous workout posts! We also made burgers, roasted brussels and asparagus, sautéed onions and mushrooms! All INCREDIBLE! Pretty much every day we were home, Sam and I made a salad with all of the veggies in the fridge and some protein like chicken or steak. Eating salads by the pool just makes them taste 10x better! I am usually the last person that likes ANY of the food in El Paso. Well, if you love unhealthy Mexican food, El Paso is the place for you, haha, but in all seriousness, we usually just eat at home when we are in town. We tried this place my parents love that specializes in fajitas and roasted chicken. We had it after we went to White Sands on Friday (more about that here) and were OBSESSED. Also, probably because we were HANGRY!
Anyways, we had it again on Saturday night and brought it home. SO freaking good. Give me roasted chicken, and I am one happy girl! On the way to White Sands, we stopped at Subway, and grabbed a chopped salad with the rotisserie chicken. It was actually really good. It didn’t really fill me up (typical), so I ate quest bar after this! On Thursday, we went to get the Brazilian Blowout done to control the major frizz in our hair. Of course, we had to pack something to eat. We brought roasted chicken (recipe at bottom of this post) from the night before with a kale salad. After our hair appointment, I was hungry again so we stopped by this mediterranean spot that was actually really good! I got chicken kabobs with a side salad. The chicken was super flavorful and really yum!
On Wednesday, when we got into town, my mom was super sweet and made oven roasted chicken so it was ready when we got in. She knows her very hungry children well!;) I made some roasted veggies to go with it with avocado oil. For our flight to El Paso, we picked up salads with grilled chicken from Snappy Salads in Dallas. It is one of our fave spots to grab a salad! We usually use red wine vinegar dressing.
On Tuesday, I went on a date with my boyfriend to Savor in Klyde Warren Park. This is one of my favorite chickens. SO good and I got mine with broccolini! This is one of my typical afternoon meals from earlier in the week:
On Monday, we were STARVING after cycling, so we went to Fadi’s by our house and got a ton of yummy food + roasted chicken!
I snapped these magazine articles yesterday, and a TON of you screenshotted them, so I will definitely try to keep sharing more stuff like this! This is really how we eat and what I believe works well for me, so I hope it is helpful!
My boyfriend made fun of me and told me he didn’t need to buy this magazine because I basically gave it to you all to read, haha. It made me laugh and was kind of true! I just thought these would be great tips!
One of my favorite kinds of salads! I need to try this recipe! I do these exercises all of the time! Great to add in:
I actually agree with this except I do eat late at night. To me, it doesn’t matter what time of day you’re eating, just what you’re eating and how much you’re eating as a whole all day long!
Hope you all are having a great weekend. I apologize that we haven’t been sharing our workouts on our snapchats this week. We have been CRAZY busy, so we honestly didn’t even lift weights a lot this week, but we did remember to write down some of our workouts to share with you all on here, as well as some of our eats!
Here is what our schedule looked like this week:
Monday- OFF
Tuesday- just cardio (35 minutes on stairs about level 8-10)
Wednesday- cardio (35 minutes on stairs) + legs
Thursday – cardio (35 minutes on stairs) + arms
Friday- cardio (35 minutes on stairs) + chest + shoulders
Saturday – yoga + cardio (35 minutes on stairs)
Sunday – cardio (35 minutes on stairs) + back + legs
We did not have time to include our workout today, but you can check out our past posts for some examples!
And, now for our eats from this week:
Roasted chicken we made (shared the recipe in last week’s post) + spinach + sautéed veggies
We were both hungry at 10 PM the other night, and in addition to chocolate and a quest bar, we were craving veggies, so we threw this quick salad together of tomatoes, cucumbers, spinach, salt and pepper, and balsamic vinegar.
We tried this new place called Dalat that has great Pho. We hadn’t had it in FOREVER, and what is great about this place is that you can sub out the noodles for shredded cabbage! SO awesome! We both got chicken pho and added a poached egg inside! So good!
As you can tell, we ate out a lot this week, haha. We also went to Texas De Brazil (so good) which has the BEST salad bar and then unlimited steak, chicken, etc. I know this picture is SO terrible, but I wanted to show you one (of many) plates of the meat. I get all the meat like flank, filet, etc and then I also get this chicken that is wrapped in bacon. I don’t like lamb or sausage, so I don’t eat those!
Look how incredible this salad bar is! I got two plates of this (insert embarrassed monkey emoji here).
Here’s a salad I made one afternoon for my afternoon meal:The same sautéed veggies I make almost every night with chicken. Never gets old!
After making over 800 waffles this week, we headed to another mediterranean spot in Dallas. It’s a buffet, so I will usually get the oven-baked chicken, the cucumber and tomato salad, eggplant, okra, green beans, salad, and cauliflower. Oh, and I had 2.5 plates of this 😉
We got invited to attend yoga in the park (more on my snapchat @alexis.belbel)) on Saturday, and then headed to Lark On The Park for brunch. I ordered the salad without the feta and dressing on the side with grilled chicken! It was delicious!
Oh, and the reason I didn’t do a workout on Saturday (I would have normally done legs) was that by the time we were done with yoga with TeaTree Hair Care and brunch, it was already 1 PM and I had ZERO motivation to go to the gym. I went and did a quick cardio workout to get my heart rate up and going and then called it a day! Not always easy or fun to get it in, but so worth it in the end!
And, now for some of our favorite workout clothes this week:
