Laser Hair Removal Treatment At Enlighten Dallas

We are SOOOO excited to finally share our laser hair removal experience with y’all! We have actually talked about our experience at Enlighten Dallas in our podcast here, but we wanted to talk about it on the blog as well to give you all more info. To be honest, we had been wanting to do it for the longest time, but were scared because of the pain. Let us tell you, you will NOT regret it. Best decision we have made when it comes to beauty, and we will share why!

We are the type of girls who shave every.single.day, so being hairy is not in our vocabulary 😉 We are going to be talking about the process, and literally everything you need to know about laser hair treatment. First off, we got our treatments done at Enlighten MD in Dallas. We would definitely recommend going there if you are in Dallas, or somewhere close to Dallas. If not, we recommend finding a reputable place because it is a serious procedure, and you want to make sure it is done properly. We have had nothing but the best experience with all of our treatments at Enlighten MD, and trust their highly trained technicians and high-tech machines.

We chose to get our bikini area and underarm areas treated with the laser. We honestly saw a HUGE difference in both areas. Our underarms used to have a major shadow from our hair underneath the skin, so it always looked kind of dark, but now, they are totally clean and no shadow! We both got our bikini areas done and love the results we have gotten. We don’t have to shave really at all anymore, and it is a a game changer!

So, you may be wondering what exactly is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal permanently reduces or eliminates unwanted hair on the entire body using a precise pulse of light energy, thereby eliminating the need to shave, wax or tweeze.

How Does Laser Hair Treatment Work?

A combination of energy and heat are beamed into the hair follicle. The pigment in the hair follicle absorbs the light, which in turn destroys the hair follicle without harming the skin around it. A series of treatments are necessary in order to destroy the hair follicles in their different growth cycles.

Who Is A Candidate For Laser Hair Removal?

It is best for individuals with a contrast between their skin color and the pigment in their hair follicles. The best candidates are those with light skin and dark course hair. If you do have darker skin more treatments will be necessary for a full reduction.

What Should You Expect During The Treatment?

During the treatment, the pulses may feel like a “rubber band snap.” After the treatment, you may experience a temporary “sunburn” sensation, some redness and scabbing. You have a choice whether to use our numbing cream or not. Most patients opt out for numbing for treatment under the arms, but other areas are more sensitive, in which case numbing cream is available.

We personally used the topical numbing cream on our bikini area, but not on our underarms.

What Is The Recovery?

None to several days.

How Long Does Each Treatment Take?

5 – 60 minutes, depending on the areas treated.

How Long Does It Take To See Results?

3 weeks.

How Long Does The Treatment Last?

There should be permanent hair reduction in the treated areas.

How Long Should You Go In Between Treatments?

There are are a total of 6 sessions, each 4-6 weeks apart, which are included in any package. A 7th touch up is included to achieve permanent hair reduction. For darker complexions, a patient may need several more touch up treatments, and others opt in for touch-ups over time since the body’s hormonal system can change over time.

Is There Anything You Should Do Before And After A Treatment?

PRE-CARE: Avoid plucking, waxing, electrolysis and sun exposure (tanning) for 6 weeks prior to treatment. The winter time is the best time for treatment on areas of the body that are in direct sunlight. Other areas like the underarms and bikini can be treated year round.

POST-CARE: Avoid sun exposure (tanning) for 6 weeks after the treatment. Apply moisturizer and sunscreen SPF 45+.

Facials At Enlighten Dallas

We are SO excited for today’s post because we are FINALLY talking all about facials at one of our favorite spots, Enlighten. They are a medical spa and have the cutest boutique, too! We have gotten so many services done there, including laser hair treatment and semi-pemanent makeup on our brows, which will both have full blog posts coming soon!

We are pretty good about taking care of our skin (see this post for what we use), but every few weeks, your skin needs a deeper cleaning by a professional 😉 Let’s be honest, it is kind of like going to the dentist: once they remind us how important it is to floss, we are better about it, and in this case, better about applying the right serums, moisturizers, sunscreen, etc. It is a good little reminder!]

Unlike some other facials we have gotten before, Darla at Enlighten (who is incredible!!) customizes each facial, so no two facials are the same for anyone. There is no “menu” of facials here. Even though we are twins, our skin has different needs, and therefore, different facials! She used products by the finest companies like Natura Bisse, Glytone, Elta MD, Ladyganics, and SkinCeuticals.

Most of the facials include massage, unless theres an active acne breakout. While others are more concentrated on exfoliation and extractions for deep clean.

They also just had a MAJOR upgrade to a new machine that they are super excited about (and we got to try already!). It is called Dermal Infusion treatment, and it is a 3-in-1 treatment. It exfoliates, extracts, and infuses!

A little more about what the treatment is: It is a professional exfoliation treatment that helps product penetrate deep within the skins surface, where the skin specific serum has most impact. They use 4 different types of serums to infuse: Ultra Hydrating, Vitamin C, Brightening, and Pore Clarifying. The serum that is used is determined by Darla once she cleanses and examines the skin.

When we went, Darla used the PoreClarifying on her chin to address an active breakout, and then the Brightening everywhere else. For Alexis, she used the Brightening serum all over.

Dallas Date Spots

Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, we wanted to share this super cute red dress (ON SALE!!) + some of our favorite Dallas spots for date night (mostly restaurants since we LOOOOOVE to eat, haha). Before we get into our favorite spots, we have to talk about this red dress. It is actually super comfy and can be worn so many ways! We paired it with a leather jacket, but you could also wear it with a denim jacket and some converse to dress it down!We don’t know about y’all, but like we said, we love to eat, and good thing our boyfriends love to eat as much as we do, haha! We usually spend our weekends thinking about where we are going to eat and love finding new places on Yelp to try!So, here are our favorite spots, and what we like to order:

Meso Maya: we love this Mexican food spot. It is not your typical tex-mex, but they do have a lot of common dishes. We love their Ensalada De Ceviche, Queso Poblano, and Salmon De Coco.
Henrys Majestic: Love the atmosphere here and they have great brunch, too! Our faves are Maple Bourbon Meatballs and Fried Cauliflower for apps, Henry’s Marrow Spiked Burger and Henry’s Cioppino for mains, and the Ice Box Pie is TO DIE FOR!
Sablon: If you’re a chocolate lover or dessert fan, this is a MUST! Literally everything they have is amazing. We love the Igloo Waffles, Chocolate Fondue, and the Strawberry Crepes.

Tolouse Cafe and Bar: Super cute French spot! We love the decor and food. Our faves are the Mussels Provençal for an appetizer, and the Poulet Roti (roasted chicken) and Trout Almondine for entrees. The Beignets and Coffee are incredible!
HG Sply Co: Fun spot that has great drinks and a really fun patio! As far as drinks, we love the Cucumber Smash and Moscow Mule. For appetizers, the Ginger Garlic Hummus is great. For main courses, we love the House Bowls (we usually get the The True Grit with steak or the Stir Fry with chicken or steak). Their Honey Garlic Brussels are amazing, too!
The Grape: Love this bistro because it is so cozy and cute! They are known for their burger, but we love the Mussels, The Sautéed TX Grouper, and the Roasted Natural Chicken.

Saint Ann: Love the atmosphere here! Our faves are the Ceviche and the Miso Glazed Atlantic Salmon.
Del Friscos Double Eagle Steak House: Great spot to celebrate something! We love the Thick-Cut Nueske’s Bacon (def a splurge)! and the Charred Octopus. The Seared Chilean Sea Bass and Filet are really good! Oh, and love the Brussels Sprouts. And, for dessert the Butter Cake is amazing!
Mesero: Another really good Mexican spot! Faves are the Shrimp Ceviche and the Guacamole. Love their Crispy Half Chicken, Del Carazon Salad, and the Carne Asada.

Savor: This spot is right in Klyde Warren Park and ALL glass! We love their Oven Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Grilled Chicken, and the Seared Atlantic Swordfish.The Red Chili Broccolini with Cashews is also super good! If you love dessert, you have to try the Funday “Sundae”!
Stirr: They have a really cute upstairs patio and their brunch is amazing, esp if you have cinnamon rolls. Their Wood Blistered Shishitos and Half Smoked Chicken are amazing!

Our Dallas Must Spots For Beauty

Can’t believe we are heading into the end of October! We love this transitional look for those of y’all who live in Texas or Cali, where it is still a little too warm to pull out those jeans and big sweaters. You could also wear this with OTK boots, too! This dress has to be one of our favorite dress of ALL time. It is super comfy and comes in a long-sleeved version! We paired it with one of our favorite booties (also own these in tan) and so comfy, too! You could wear this dress with so many things, and you can totally dress it up or down! We love it with this black bag, which goes with literally everything! This outfit is perfect for running errands and then grabbing dinner or drinks with your girlfriends or man in your life;) Speaking of errands, we wanted to share some of our Dallas must have spots for beauty. Before we get into our spots, we want to highlight these booties. They are so comfy! They do run a little small, so we recommend sizing up a half size. Highly, highly recommend these!Now, about this dress: it hugs you in all the right places and it has ruching in the front, so it hides your food baby;) We have it in the long-sleeved version, too, and just can’t get enough of it! The bag is a great staple bag because it fits a lot and can be worn cross-body or on your shoulder, too!

She is SO amazing. We have been going to her since we moved here (about 4 years ago), and would never go anywhere else. Our mom now goes to her, too!

NAILS: Castle Nail Spa

We go here to get our dip manicures and regular pedicures. They also do gel manicures, and do such a good job! Make sure to make an appointment!

EYEBROW SHAPING: Everest Threading in Dallas or AP’s Threading in Rockwall.

The dallas spot is decent for threading, but we love the Rockwall location more.

EYEBROW MICROBLADING: Enlighten Dallas

Nike x Dallas Star in Frisco

Living in Dallas, of course we are Cowboys fans. Last week, we had the incredible opportunity of touring The Star in Frisco with Nike Dallas for their grand opening, as well as a history of how the two major names are connected. We shared a bunch of behind-the-scenes on snapchat and instal-stories, so we hope you all got a chance to see everything, but in case you didn’t, here is a recap of our super fun day!
We started the day at the Nike office in Plano with a bunch of other awesome influencers and publications. We took the Cowboys’ bus to The Star, which was SO cool! Our Nike tour guide, Rolo gave us a bunch of history about Nike and The Cowboys, which was really cool to hear!When we got to The Star, we were greeted with delicious smoothies from Fuel Zone Café (you’ll read more about that later in the post) and got to see the Nike at The Star, which is a first-of-its-kind retail collaboration between the Dallas Cowboys and Nike that features the latest and greatest Nike training and football product. We loved all of the Texas gear they had!
We also got to take a tour of The Star, including all of the meeting rooms, where the players eat their meals, etc. SO cool! We even got to meet the coach! We also got to watch their training camp practice and sit super close in the VIP section (and wore our personalized tees!)
After touring, we each got a cryotherapy therapy session, which was SO cool! It is literally freezing, but you feel so amazing afterwards (more about that later)!
After our treatments, we got to change into some Nike gear that was different for all of us. We headed to tour Cowboys Fit, which is a three-story, 60,000-square foot facility that includes some of the greatest technology in the industry, including sports performance recovery techniques such as cryotherapy, NormaTec and hydromassage.

Other amenities include a Fuel Zone Café; a “Rowdy Room” interactive kids club named after the Cowboys’ mascot; boutique style classes in three separate studios; a rooftop deck and pool overlooking the team’s practice fields; a 40-yard indoor fitness turf; 100-plus free weights totaling more than 20,000 pounds; and the DCC training facility.We were seriously considering joining, but the only downside is that we live about 45 minutes away. If you live in the Frisco area, we HIGHLY recommend it! After changing into our new gear, we headed out to the practice field to workout with one of their trainers at Cowboys Fit. We got personalized cleats (SO cool!) and those will definitely be just for show in our office;)
Our workout consisted of football drills and just a really fun endurance workout! It was pretty dang hot, but we had a great time! Of course, some twin action! After our tough workout, we headed back to get the NormaTec and hydromassage treatments, which were both incredible!

Here is a little more about The Cowboys and The Star :

The Cowboys teamed with the city of Frisco and its independent school district to build a 12,000-seat indoor stadium, two six-story office towers, and 150,000 square feet of specialty retail and restaurant space. The Cowboys will practice here and all eight high school football teams in the district will play their games here.

The walk also features the evolution of the Cowboys uniform which features each uniform worn by the Dallas Cowboys from 1960-now (we loved this exhibit because we are super visual!)
