Happy Monday, y’all! We hope you had a great weekend. Our was busy, but also relaxing at the same time! We have been super swamped with covering the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, which is AMAZING, so don’t forget to stock up for fall. Our mom just placed a big order online, haha. Read more about the sale here! Anyways, we had a few requests to do a post on pattern mixing. We are both major fans of pattern mixing, especially in the summer, because it takes an outfit from basic to fun! It doesn’t have to be a huge amount of patterns going on, but just a few will work great!
In this outfit, we paired these adorable striped pointed flats with this star + stripes scarf. This would be a super cute outfit for Labor Day in a few months, or just for a festive outfit! This scarf is so soft, too, which is a major plus! This red bag is a great pop of color and it actually fits a lot in it!
As far as pattern mixing, here are our guidelines:
mix prints of different scales (smaller prints with larger prints)
keep colors in the same color family
use stripes as a neutral
tie a printed shirt around your waist
mix prints and neutrals:
chambray and leopard or gingham
polka dots and chambray
Mix complimentary prints:
stars and stripes
polka dots and stripes
leopard and stripes
plaid and leopard
This basic white tee is on sale right now for $15 and is a basic MUST! These jeans are the best ripped jeans and also we just got this pair thats on sale that we are loving! These flats are so fun and we love the jewel detailing. Super fun pop, without being too much!We love Sole Society for their affordable accessories that are super cute, and versatile! Not going to lie, pretty much 80% of our sandals are from there, haha!
Happy Weekend! Hope you all are getting some fall temps around where you live. We had some requests to share some fall transitional pieces you can pair with things you may already have. Here are some of our favorites:
Tops
Plaid Shirt: such a good staple! Wear it with jeans or leggings, or tie it around your waist.
V Neck Tee: a must have! Wear it under jackets or sweaters and this pocket one is a great go to.
Bottoms
Spanx Faux Leather Leggings: MUST HAVE! We have these in size xs petite. Use code DOUBLEDOSEXSPANX.
Happy Labor Day! Can’t believe the summer is basically over, but we are looking forward to sharing more fall finds with you all in the coming weeks and months. Below are our favorites and best sellers from August.
Activewear/Loungewear
We love our bike shorts, and if y’all are fans of bike shorts too, this Lululemon Align pair is a must and so comfy. We are size 4.
If y’all are shopping for jeans, this Paige pair of jeans we purchased during the Nordstrom Sale, and love the fit and stretchy feel they have. If you’re shopping for a more affordable option, this pair from Abercrombie is one of our favorites. We are size 24 for reference.
This grey blazer is super comfy, and can be dressed up or down. We are size xxs petite.
Joggers are one of our favorite things to wear all fall and winter. So comfortable, and can be styled so many ways. We are size xxs.
This grey cashmere ruana is SO soft and comfy, and you can wear it with jeans or leggings into fall and winter.
An off shoulder sweater is the perfect amount of skin to show, and we love this one with some layered necklaces and jeans. We are size xs.
In case you missed our last episode of An Extra Dose, you can listen to that here!Â
A little about this episode:
On this episode of An Extra Dose Podcast, we are talking about Brazilian Blowouts: what they are, how they work, and more. We are also sharing our favorite pieces to include in your fall capsule wardrobe, and why. We share our dating app profile tips, and finish off with our favorite household items.
Happy July! Yes, it may be the second day of the month already, but we are wishing you a happy July anyways! Are you all doing anything fun for the 4th? We are going to our parents’ house, and are looking forward to *hopefully* some pool and sun time!
We have been listening to a lot of podcasts recently, so we wanted to share some of our favorite podcasts that we listen to on a regular basis. We also have a podcast, in case you didn’t know, An Extra Dose, and you can listen to all of those here!
How I Built This
This one is hosted by Guy Raz and we love that he interviews the founders of successful companies like Bumble and Drybar. It is so inspiring and motivating, and has great advice!
U Up?
We are SO obsessed with this one! It is hosted by Betches co-founder, Jordana Abraham and comedian, Jared Freid. They discuss a ton of relatable dating topics and answer questions from readers, which we love!
Off The Vine With Kaitlyn Bristowe
We are MAJOR fans of The Bachelorette, so this podcast is fun to listen to. She talks about all topics like dating, therapy, and more!
Anna Faris Is Unqualified
We just started listening to this one, and we love that she gives relationship advice to readers calling in, and she has celebrity guests on that are fun to listen to!
Medical Medium Podcast
On a more serious note, this podcast is what opened our eyes to so much about our health, and eating more plant based. We will say it is kind of boring, but he has great information, if you’re interested in it!
PS- how cute is this outfit! Perfect for the fourth in a few days. We love this tie dye top for summer (SO in right now!) with these ripped jeans. These jeans are great for any time of year, and we love the ripped knees. We are wearing size xs in the tee, and size 24 in the jeans. Both the jeans and tee are from Nordstrom, and so are these suede strappy wedges!
We love that Nordstrom has in-store pickup, and free shipping and returns! Don’t forget that the Nordstrom Anniversary sale is coming up VERY soon. Be sure to check all about the sale here.
Happy Friday and first week of 2019! We wanted to share some of our favorite pieces (and yours) from 2018. We did this post last year, and got such good feedback on it, we wanted to share it again.
We thought it would be easiest to divide it by categories to make it easier for you all to browse!
Essie Gel Couture Polish (#15): this polish is what we get on our toes. We love this light pink color (wearing “Matter Of Fiction”) and it really lasts so much longer than regular polish, without being gel polish. We just don’t like gel polish on our toes because it is a pain to get off!
St. Tropez Self Tanner (#4): This is our go-to self tanner to use year-round. We put it in our face, too. There are some other great options (more in this post). We also got these drops we can’t wait to try!
T3 Twirl Curling Iron (#12): a lot of people ask us if this one is worth it, and the answer is YES! This one is the one we have had the longest and works great on any hair length. You can also switch out the barrels for different widths of curls.
If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, this one is another one we have that works really well, too!
CLOTHING:
Spanx Faux Leather Leggings (#5): you all have probably heard us talk about these so much, but we have literally been living in them. We have them in size s petite and regular size xs. Our mom got them, too, and is in love with them!
V-Neck Tee (#7): this one is just a great staple! You can wear it under so many things and it comes in a TON of colors. We have it in size xs!
Lace Bralette (#8): this is so cute to throw on under sweaters, tanks in the summer, or basic tees. It adds enough detail, without being too much! We got a size s in it (we are a 30 DD), but we probably could have gone with a size xs.
Distressed Jeans (#9): we have a lot of ripped jeans, but we always seem to gravitate to this pair. They are stretchy, come in a shorter length (major for us shorties!), and they are affordable and usually on sale for $44. We have size 24 short for reference.
Faux Leather Moto Jacket (#10): We got this one in July during the Anniversary Sale and wear it all of the time. We love the gold hardware on it, and what is even better is that you can remove the hood, so you can dress the jacket up. We have size xs for reference.
SHOES:
Rockstud Sandals (#1): this pair we got last year, and they are such a good dupe for the real deal. We actually have the real version as well, and like this pair better, haha!
Adidas Edge Bounce Sneakers (#6): We have these in two colors (also olive green). These are obviously comfortable and can be worn to workout, but also with athleisure wear. We have these in size 7.
Suede Boots (#11): There are obviously a tonnnn of suede boot options out there, but this pair fit us so well. They are not OTK boots, but they look great with jeans, skirts, dresses, and leggings. We have them in both the “tobacco” and “mushroom” colors in size 6.5, but they do run a little small.
Tory Burch Miller Sandal (#13): We don’t even need to explain these because they are so popular, but let’s just say, the hype is real! They go with everything and are so comfy. We have them in size 7 in the “sand patent” and leopard. This light pink color is next on our list!
Cutout Suede Bootie (#16): Another thing we bought during the Anniversary Sale. These booties can be worn all year (all about the bang for your buck!) and the color we have (“foxy suede”) matches everything. We have size 6.5 and they’re marked down right now!
ACCESSORIES:
David Yurman Ring (#3): we do have a lot of rings and jewelry, but this one is the one we get asked about the most. We honestly love all of his pieces, and this one is no different. It is so timeless and goes with all other jewelry since it has both gold and silver! It is definitely an investment piece, but it something you can wear every day for a long time!
Gucci Soho Disco Bag (#14): this bag is a major staple FOR SURE. We legit fight over it and wear it every.single.day. We know it is a splurge, BUT, we do wear it every day and it goes with literally any outfit. Space-wise, it does hold more than you think it would!
